I already have the network up and running, but i was wondering if any one can see any room for improvements. So far it is

2 computers in sleepout computer in my room
    l l
Internet - main adsl router in sleepout - wireless / wired router in hallway
    l
switch in office, with 3 computers, + testbench

I hope that made sense. A couple of points. The router is a ethernet router, wit wireless and print server built in, with the wan interface dead (hence why we are only using it as a switch / access point). The cable run between main router and other router is 40ish m, and the run between other router and office is 20ish metres, so it was cheaper to use switches. (plus its tidyer). Its all 100m/bit. My room occasinaly has a switch in it, when I have mates coming round to play network games.
Can any oe recomend any imporvements in this setup, before we go permanent with it (run cables proper, with wall plates ect).
    Cheers.

You're looking pretty good to me. I'd think about replacing that router with one that doesn't have a burned out WAN port. I've found that one port can lead to more than one getting burned out very quickly. Especially if the reason for the burnout is a faulty cable and you haven't fixed the cable.

The only other thing I can recommend is running cable that's capable of supporting gigabit and 10/100 networks. That way you can upgrade to gigabit later on. At the very minimum run the cable through the walls that way. Your other cable should interface just fine.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.
