    Budget:

    I have £450 for my build/upgrade

    Main uses of intended build:

Gaming (FPS - BF 2/3/4, Sim - FSX/Train Simulator 2015/ETS2, Racing - NFS Hot Pursuit, Ridge Racer Unbounded, Others - MoH Splinter Cell Blacklist, Mass Effect) General internet use, Sketchup design, DVD ripping. Possibly doing the odd occasional rendering of video - My desktop is also used as a PLEX server for Music and Video

    Parts required:

CPU, Mainboard, RAM, possibly GPU if budget allows otherwise will continue with current GPU until funds allow an upgrade.

Previous build information (list details of parts):

    - i5 2400 (1155)
    - Asus P8Z68V-LX
    - 12 GB Ram (2x2GB 2x4GB) Corsair Vengeance
    - MSI R9 270X 2GB Gaming - ????
    - Corsair Obsidian 750D Case - KEEPING FOR NEW BUILD
    - Corsair H80 Water Cooling AIO - KEEPING for now - will be going larger once funds allow
    - Corsair Force GS 128GB as OS Drive - KEEPING FOR NEW BUILD
    - 3TB Movies Drive - KEEPING FOR NEW BUILD
    - 1.5TB Gaming and Apps Drive - KEEPING FOR NEW BUILD
    - 1TB general Purpose - KEEPING FOR NEW BUILD

    Monitor resolution:

    2x 1080P Monitors, 1x 24", 1x 22"

    Storage requirements:

Will you be overclocking: yes/no (delete as required)

Depends on my budget - Give me an idea for both if that's not being too cheeky

Any motherboard requirements (no. of USB, Xfire/SLI, fan headers):

Need at least 7 SATA 3 ports and minimum of 8 USB at the rear

    Extra information about desired system:

Going for a Blue and/or Yellow build as these are my favourite colours. I have no preference to AMD or intel CPU - whatever will offer the best bang for buck :)

prefer using SCAN as i get free delivery, Amazon or Ebuyer for parts.

    Thank you in advance

Having a quick look on Scan you could get the following if you went with AMD.

    AMD FX8350 £134.20
    MSI 970 Gaming £77.60
    MSI R9 280 Gaming £149.99
    Corsair H100i £90.12
    Total £451.91

If you use your existing ram etc from your current pc, the other thing you could look at is getting a used I7 cpu from the marketplace once you reach the requirements, for it and then that would mean that you can spend abit more on the GPU and grab a GTX970 or AMD R9 290.

Why do you want a new CPU? Based on your needs it doesn't look like you need one. The main weak point of your rig is the graphics card. An r9 290(x?) would be a worthy upgrade.

edit- I noticed you wanted a new mobo, one which wouldn't support the old CPU, ignore that first question
