I have no preference to AMD or intel CPU - whatever will offer the best bang for buck prefer using SCAN as i get free delivery, Amazon or Ebuyer for parts. Thank you in advance
Having a quick look on Scan you could get the following if you went with AMD. AMD FX8350 £134.20 MSI 970 Gaming £77.60 MSI R9 280 Gaming £149.99 Corsair H100i £90.12 Total £451.91 If you use your existing ram etc from your current pc, the other thing you could look at is getting a used I7 cpu from the marketplace once you reach the requirements, for it and then that would mean that you can spend abit more on the GPU and grab a GTX970 or AMD R9 290.
Why do you want a new CPU? Based on your needs it doesn't look like you need one. The main weak point of your rig is the graphics card. An r9 290(x?) would be a worthy upgrade. edit- I noticed you wanted a new mobo, one which wouldn't support the old CPU, ignore that first question
