    first . hello.

second .. how good are you with tools and and your hands.

third.. do you want to spend a lot of money or a little money.

. to make a submersed pump inside a res. you will add extra heat to oyur system.
a resevoir is not required for a cooling system . you can get a single T connector and a cap or plug for the end. the pumps you want to use can usualy be used inline without requireing that they be put inside the water.

the radiator you want to buy is a little bit expencive but is ok to use .

    personaly i would go with 1/2inch ID and a jr-120 heatercore .

websites to look at since you are in canada would probably be criticool

    http://www.criticool.com/

    hope that helps some

Granted, but keeping you pump cooled is good for pump reliability.

your pump will outlast your computer by years without cooling so its not worth it . i have built systems where the cooling is still in place and they are now using 2nd and 3rd mother boards and processesors in the servers with the same cooling in place minus the block.

ok ok ! but i wanna know about the Arctic Silver or Alumina Thermal Compounds if it's necessary ?? If i have a AMD is there a difference ? :eyebrow:

And finally i decided to buy an Maze4 *CHIPSET-AMD* Waterblock LUCITE Top 1/2" CHR FIT - DD with a 1/2inch ID and a jr-120 heatercore . It sound to be good, and for the pump, ill find somewhere to buy one for cheap and i want a reservoir so it doesn't seem to be so hard to make one. I just have to find a great bottle in any shop...

thx to help me ! :)

First off you do need some kind of thermal compund. I would suggest getting some Artic Silver 5.

Second you do realise that's a chipset block. It's for the NB, not for your CPU!

Plus form the picture of your board there doesn't look to be any mounting holes for a NB block.

You can't see the holes on the motherboard because the standard NB Heatsink is using them........they are the 2 black plastic push in clips on the 2 corners of the HS

nb = Northbridge = chipset on the motherboard (the bit that controls FSB amongst others)

You can use this block but only to cool the motherboard (where the existing heatsink is) There are literally loads oif blocks for use with 1/2" tubing. Take a look at www.coolercases.co.uk for many examples. Thermal compound needs to be applied to the die of the CPU in a very thin layer. Less is most definately more here.

Have you ever refitted a normal HSF? If not maybe you should before you start down this path. The more practice you get at reseating cooling devices (HSF's or waterblocks) the better you will get at it. I have done dozens but im still not completely consistant with the ammount of paste i apply, mounting pressure etc. etc. although it is an easy task now and not at all worrying as it was to start with.

    Skimping on costs?

Don't just go for the cheap route. Make sure that what you're buying will actually work. This is taking care of a sizable investment after all, your motherboard, cpu and the rest.

Don't cost yourself extra in the long run just to save a few dollars upfront.

Heck, you can save more money by carefully reading all the forums and learning from everyone else's mistakes!
