After experiencing many issues with my current desktop, I am feeling that its time to rebuild it. I have done some damage to the case (antec 180) and want to replace it. I really love the quiet operation of the case, but it is a little bit of a tight squeeze for some components and not the height of organization.

after looking over reviews, I can't seem to find a good replacement. Coolermaster HAF and cosmos/s seem to be rife with complaints for such high price points (HAF- no dust filtering, bad fans, etc... Cosmos- scratching, denting, power button not working, etc...) and I am not sure where to look and how to compare.

    any suggestions?

why lian li specifically. i seem to hear a bit about them, but they seem to lack many of the bells and whistles of the other brands

I gotta say, having read his post (and never heard of the case) I looked it up and am mightily impressed. The Antec 190 certainly is formidable

Alternatively, the CoolerMaster Storm Sniper (if it's released yet) looks to be a bit of a gamer case, but with a fair few nifty features.

I don't know anything about Lian-Li cases, so I can't recommend one, but if you're after another Antec case and don't mind the funny looks, the Twelve Hundred has a fair amount of space inside it as well.

the 1200 is far from the 180-190 though. not really a quiet pc and such. as for the 190 it seems hard to find and says discontinued on some sites which seems odd to me.

the 190 has been discontinued. it didn't sell well because it came with 2 power supplies, so it was retardedly expensive. and to make it worse, neither of the power supplies were very good, so if you wanted the case you had to buy it for $lots, rip out the included power supplies, and then buy a decent power supply.

what kind of budget have you got?

    Lian Li/Silverstone.

Bells and Whistles are unnecessary. Great build, design and understated style Cheesecake.

Sorry about the 190 suggestion, I read a review on Sunday, seemed like a good case, didn't realise you couldn't get them anymore :(

Agreed, Silverstone is better build quality (Steel chassis and panels) but a hell of a lot more expensive... Lian Li is better for LAN parties, as it's lighter but still nice and sturdy (alu panels, no idea what the chassis is made of though)

i just looked at the coolermaster sniper review and that seems like a nice case. it seems that with the lian li its the p80 and with silverstone its the j10, but both are pricey and don't seem to offer any significant advantages for the price..i mean i guess all metal is nice..

    *goes back to net searching*

If you are searching for Lian Li check out the LAN COOL. It is the Low-end LIAN Li. I haven't heard much about them but i know that they are affiliated.

The case I'm using right now is pretty nice, solidly built and doesn't cost a bunch (around $60 with a 430 Antec Earthwatt PSU)

Lian Li PC-A77, best case ever, it's big, it's nice, nothing gets in the way internally, no room is wasted with 3,5" bays.

Lian Li V1110, classic V series design, far smaller than the A77, but still more than enough room.

Lian Li PC-7FW, the best option if you want lian li quality and some bling without sacrificing build quality.

A classic in good taste with plenty of room, the Silverstone TJ07.

The only case that is avalaible worldwide that can fit a tripple rad without modding, the Coolermaster Cosmos S, of course you can import a Mountain Mods, but then you are looking at 500£ and up inc shipping.

If you are after something more in the htpc direction, Silverstones Crown cases are great, buyt not really cheap.

Or, if you rather spend your money on stuff that goes in the case, there are several good mid towers avalaible that have decent build quality and cooling, low price tag and look ok, especially the Coolermaster 690, but also others like the Antec 300.

I used to be a big Lian-Li fan and in many ways I still am, but their cases no longer have the same build quality they used to have. They *still* make some of the most beautiful cases, though. That being said, all-aluminium cases tend to make more noise than steel cases (which, incidentally, is why I'm anxious to put my PC61 out to pasture :)).

Lancool is, like previously mentioned, a subsidiary of Lian-Li. At first they tried to hide that fact, but no longer. They only make midi-sized cases as of now, and while some of them look pretty good, they're more expensive than e.g. Antec's P182, with which they cannot compete.

I'm a noob, leave me alone... :( I've felt the weight of a TJ-09 and a PC-A77 and I know which I'm less likely to kill myself carrying around... :p

+1 for Lian Li and Silverstone.
Have the TJ07 W, which is mostly alu, but it's still a heavy beast, my last case, a Lian li G70 was also a great case, nice and light, lighter than the TJ07, considering it was slightly larger.
