    This is my computers spec.

    Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4Ghz
    Intel DP45SG motherboard
    2GB DDR3 RAM 1333Mhz
    250GB HDD
    Viewsonic VA1901wm 19" (max resolution is 1366x768)
PSU 450W. I can upgrade if i need to.

I currently have an HIS 4650 512MB graphics card. Can this card play these games at the highest setting possible.
    Crysis
    STALKER
    COD 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
    World in conflict
    Far cry 2
    FSX

I bought a Sapphire 4890 1GB card. Will it handle the above games or should i get a DX11 card?

If not which card can do that?

first, lay off on the caps. Its annoying and makes you seem like a 5 year old child.

second, the games you want to play, are very very demanding, so don't expect great results when you only have 2 gigs of memory.

But yes, a 4890 would be one way to go.

    If you're sticking a 4890 in that computer you'll be needing a decent, branded PSU of >500W, a generic-brand 450W just won't cut it.

Picarro also makes a good point - grab 4GB of RAM if you've got readies to be throwing around, it'll make a big difference to gaming performance.

i am ok with getiing a new PSU.

I also got to know that ATI released their 5000 series graphic cards. Do u think they will perform better than the 4890 in the above games at highest possible setting?

Also there seems to be many 5000 series cards. Which one should i buy?

4890 is more than enough for 1366x768 RES or you could opt for a 5770 which will also be fine.

I'd say opt for the HD5770 if only because it's quieter, with proper OC'ing it is almost as good, and that it takes less power.

Also, it's crossfire performance is bananas.

    Which is better
    ATI 4890, 5870, 5770, 5850

Pls tell which is the best and then show the others in descending order.

And I'll be using only one monitor.

I've noticed one of the games you listed as being Crysis, good luck running that at a decent enough frame rate with only having 2 gb of ram, so I agree with Krikkit if you do have any other spare money lying around then get another 2 gb of ram as you'll need it and definitely a much better psu.

As for the graphics cards you listed, I'd put them in this order from best to worst,

    5870
    5850
    4890
5770 (performs pretty much the same as a 4870)

Also check this out HD 5770 vs HD-4890 vs GTX260 vs GTX275

Which clearly shows in 3DMark Vantage that the 4890 beats the 5770 by 1613 points, and the 4890 also beats a GTX 260 by almost 600 points (which isn't really a lot) in fact the 5770 gets the lowest score out of all of those cards coming in at 1000 points less than what the GTX 260 gets, the GTX 275 being the clear winner out of all of the cards.

And in 3DMark 06 the margin is a lot closer with there not being much between all of the cards, but just remember 3DMark 06 and 3DMark Vantage are only generic benchmarks but it's still obvious a 4890 is better than a 5770 and a GTX 275 is better than all of them.

So with that in mind if you upgrade your ram from 2gb to 4gb I don't see why for the time being you can't just stick with the 4890, unless you really feel the need to upgrade? And if so then just sell the 4890 first.

I am intrigued though because you said you have a 4650 at the moment but you've already bought a 4890 so if the 4890 is still within the 7 days distance selling regulations since you bought it you can actually send it back for a full refund and then buy a 5x series card if that's what your wanting to do?

    Well in terms of performance:

    HD5870
    HD5850
    HD4890
    HD5770

    However in terms of price:

    HD4890
    HD5770
    HD5850
    HD5870.

To be honest, I'd suggest you go grab a used GTX275.

Stop asking questions that you can find out on the website, ie. benchmarks.

Ph4ZeD have you ever thought he might have wanted other users opinions/recommendations instead of just reading benchmarks on a website, as far as i'm concerned he's every right to ask any question he likes and expect an answer as he must have known a lot of people on here would know the answers to his questions and be able to recommend graphics from all of the collective experience from users on this site.

A 275 and a 4890 are so close in performance as to make no difference. However, the stock cooler on a 4890 tends to want to do an impression of a DC10 at take-off when pushed. 4890+after market cooler however, = a very nice card indeed.

As for the 5*** series cards ...got a DX11 game ...or 3 or more? No? Thought so:geek: The 5*** does nicely what the previous gen cards did ...also nicely. There is not, rumoured to be or likely to be for a while, a Crysis style DX11 game or app that makes having a DX11 card dé rigour!

Interesting that, because according to the review on this very site on page 2 of the review here http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/graphics/2009/04/03/radeon-hd-4890-vs-geforce-gtx-275/6 it shows the GTX 275 being 8 and 9 frames per second faster in Crysis @ this resolution 1,280 x 1,024 0xAA 16xAF, DirectX 10, High Quality than the 4890 which would make the GTX 275 considerably faster than the 4890 and in Call of Duty: World at War @ the resolution of 1,680 x 1,050 4xAA 16xAF, DirectX 9, Maximum Detail the GTX 275 using Forceware 185.63 is 7 frames per second faster than the 4890, so I would say the GTX 275 is the better card and 9 frames per second and a 7 frame per second advantage to the GTX 275 I wouldn't really call no difference in performance, would you lol.

crysis is well known to favour nvidia cards. there are a few other games that go either way (Stalker goes for ATi cards).

In future you might not want to base your entire opinion on the performance of just one game.

heres the toms hardware comparison (aggregated over lots of benchmarks):

    http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/...ity/Sum-of-FPS-Benchmarks-1920x1200,1538.html

when OCed its challenging the 285 (let alone the 275)

Ravenheart thanx for defending me from Ph4ZeD. Firstly i used the forum on Tomshardware. But the users were not very friendly. They scolded me when i opened a no. of threads. And they even merged all my threads into 1 which made everything a mess.

So then i started using bit tech. ppl pls dont make this site also feel like the tomshardware forum.

    Thx again ravenheart.

You see here's the thing, I didn't base it on just one game did I, if you did what people should do and read my whole reply you would also have noticed I mentioned Call Of Duty: World At War, so since when was Crysis and Call of Duty: World At War just one game?

So in future read my response and :read: properly! as I clearly didn't base my entire opinion on just one game :eyebrow:

Also why bother saying when OCed the 4890 challenges the 285 (let alone the 275) who said anything about overclocking? I do find it funny though that you say the 4890 only challenges both the cards when overclocked, not even comparable really are they as your quite clearly saying the 4890 only beats it when overclocked compared to the stock clock of the 275, not to mention the 275 has a 448 bit memory bus compared to only 256 for the 4890.

In fact this says it all because on the last page of the Bit-tech review of both cards it says this
if you want to read it for yourself then see here http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/graphics/2009/04/03/radeon-hd-4890-vs-geforce-gtx-275/18

And that's with both @ stock speeds, and the only way the 4890 can truly beat the 275 is if it's overclocked as you've already mentioned.

And one last thing, at the end of the day I base everything I say on facts and it's fact that @ stock speeds the 275 is a superior card to the 4890 for many reasons.

    Nilushan your welcome :)

woo, lets base all our opinions on games that only support our points.

also, lets all quote articles from 8 months ago.

    lol at this:

try 135 quid now, whereas the GTX275 is 170 quid if you can even find one.

look at the toms hardware chart i posted. look how the HD4890 and GTX275 are equal. Then look further up and see the factory OCed cards (Toxic, Cyclone) match the OCed GTX285. just in case you dont want to look at the chart i have posted it here:

FYI the GTX285 costs 250 pounds, whereas i have seen that Cyclone for 150.

as fun as this is, my pc wont re-build itself.

oh and i can read, but big blocks of text turn into a moire pattern. try using paragraphs next time.

Well if you could read then you wouldn't have said I only based it on one game would you, no clearly not.

And what if the article was 8 months old, are you saying it doesn't actually count now, the results would and still will be the same.

And it was you who started waffling on about the 4890 WHEN OVERCLOCKED was better than the gtx 275, @ Stock the gtx 275 IS better than the 4890 FACT.

You know why the gtx 275 is still £170 instead of £135 for the 4890, it's because it's a better card that's why.

As for your pc rebuilding itself, come again? You rebuilding your pc has nothing to do with this topic.

And see what i've done here, I've used paragraphs simply based on the fact you struggled to read a few more words than your brain can handle ;)

I have nothing more to say on the matter apart from IMO and in several other peoples opinions oh yes and bit-techs opinion (regardless of if the review is 8 months old or 1 month old) the gtx 275 is the better card. <--- See that it's a FULL STOP which means I won't be commenting again as I've made my views explicitly clear.
