well i got 2 blower fans pulled from a friends laptop which i am intending to use in a case. but am having trouble finding out which wire is which. the fans are Forcecon DC280009OF0 and pulled from a 14" alienware lappy
Well it's a 5v DC fan so make a guess. If you wire it backwards it won't turn. Maybe if you are lucky the wiring will follow convention of 0v, 5v, tach, PWM. There's probably a really intelligent way to check using a meter but it's not something I know about.
It is a 5v fan, was bored last night so removed the pins from the connector and had play with a 9v battery Red is positive White is pwm Yellow/gold is slow fan speed so prolly lover voltage Black is max speed and prolly the full 5v Sticker on the fans say 2cfm but at max speed it's spitting lodes air out, I do remember my Alienware m14x being more quiter than these 2 fans are Think I'll opt to Hook them up to pwm mobo fan connectors instead
Here is the Molex connector: Code: Pin Name Color Description 1 +12VDC Yellow +12 VDC 2 COM Black Ground 3 COM Black Ground 4 +5VDC Red +5 VDC As for your fan black is ground not +5V. With four wires it sounds like it's a PWM fan so this is probably what it is: Code: Pin Name Color Description 1 +5VDC Red +5 VDC 2 Control White PWM 3 Sense Yellow Tachometer (RPM) 4 COM Black Ground
