i got a 120mm panaflow fan out of an old PSU and want to take it apart so i can paint it but im not sure as how i do that, can anyone be of assistance?
On the "back" of the fan you'll notice a sticker over the center of the round bit, peal the sticker off. From there, the fan will most likely have a small "snap" washer in place over the main fan shaft. Take a small flat-headed screw-driver and simply "pop" off the washer, being careful not to lose it. From there, simply pull the blade bit off the housing bit. When you want to then re-assemble it, simply insert the blade bit into the housing bit, and re-insert the "snap" washer with a pair of needle nose plyers. And there you have it.
Heh, to be quite honest, I only found out yesterday when I was trying to lower the voltage on my LED fan in my main rig while still keeping the LED's at full voltage. Nearly wrecked the thing
Hmmm, aparently mine isnt built the same, unless im totally looking at the wrong piece. Any other ideas?
Put up a picture of the bit on the housing where the motor is located. I'll see what I can do from there.
Not to be rude, but you accidentally posted this in the wrong thread. You may have more luck if this were in the hardware, modding, or cooling forums. They are generally more frequented. I went ahead and did a little research for you, and found someone who managed to disassemble his. He had to dremel through the plastic (beneath the sticker) and take off a retaining washer and a gromet to disassemble it. Maybe yyou should just mask it since there's no easy way to take it apart again. ~Chrizzle
