Hey guys, So I just bought a new TV for my room...Its a little overkill...a 40inch Samsung LE40A686....but its awesome! Gears 2 looks amazing on it Its one of the latest ones out right now and im chuffed to bits with it but heres the snag. The connection I want it to recieve is in my brothers room and he uses it for his TV. Its from a ntl digital box that outputs via Scart plug which goes into his TV - I would like to share this connection. The problems are there is a wall between us and also I cant imagine a scart cable being that long or it even being able to split the connection into two? Is there any other device out there that can transmit the signal or share it another way that doesnt involve drilling holes in my wall or a very long cable? Or is this my only option? Hope someone can help!
I would definitely not recommend SCART, as it can only carry the PAL resolution, not 720p or 1080p. And no, I have no idea what to solve that with.
If you need to send scart (I assume to watch the NTL box?) then something like http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5345911/Trail/searchtext>WIRELESS+VIDEO.htm should do it. There are plenty around, and I'm sure they can be had cheaper too. If you need a scart splitter just google Scart Splitter, you'll find something though usually its to take 2 inputs into one port rather than the other way round but the product you need will be out there. Obviously remember that the cheaper the price the lower the quality and you REALLY don't want SD looking any worse than it already will at that size. As for the 360 don't send it over scart, connect it via HDMI and if you don't have an HDMI 360 use a VGA cable. And yes, those TV's are great, I have the 46" version and it rocks. Though it was badly setup out of the box (like all factory settings) and I'm still tweaking it now to get the colours just right. Tip: turn 100Hz off, its horrible and makes things all artificial looking.
Cool, those av transmitters seem interesting, with Argos money back guarunteee it could work out well! Quick question about the tv , how do I turn off 100mhz mode? Also does it have a digital receiver built in? Can it recieve terrestrial tv out the boxor do I have to get an antenna for that? At the moment I have only my 360 hooked to it- no tv channels or anything
Won't he have to watch whatever his brother has on with that? Invest in a decent aerial or a second cable box with a splitter on the cable feed.
hey guys! Just bought a Av transmitter from maplin, cost me £59.99. The quality is very good and works a treat! Thanks guys! If anyone wants pictures to help them decide of the quality i will oblige, its unnoticible really but i think thats down to the sender/reciever operating on a higher bandwith at 5.6ghz and not interferring from the routers etc which operate on 2.4ghz. Overall, quite happy with the outcome, dont mind watching what my bro does as I will get an antenna and get terrestrial for that and then share the connection for the footy matches when were both watching it
