So basically i have been dreaming up my case mod since about April and i have the time and funds to start it along with getting my phase change sys, however i am having trouble figuring out what and where i should inquire to buy a panel of reflective glass/plexi (or some other material) that is reflective but becomes trans parent when lit from underneath like in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YzTuR4YkaA0&feature=player_embedded# so if anyone has any idea on if i can find this in a panel of glass/plexi and what its called that would be great. thanks
its just a two way mirror using plastic instead of glass as the substrate. not sure where mass quantities of such a thing may be bought though..
Two way mirrors are a myth, it's all to do with the lighting and the tint. What you do is have a mirror that isn't 100% reflective and a lamp inside your case. What happens is that when the light behind the mirror is off your eye doesn't pick up the low level of light that's gone through the mirror twice (ambient light has to go through the mirror then bounce off the stuff inside then through the mirror again to your eye) so you only see the reflected image. When the light inside is on there's enough light coming through the mirror to over-ride the reflected image so you see what's inside the case. Your best bet would probably be to go and find a place that does car window tinting and either buy some tinting film or get them to put the film on a piece of plain plexi. Moriquendi
