Once long ago (I'm talking a decade or more) I watched a war/conflict movie that seemed to belong to the docu-drama genre. I don't remember any of it except for the end, where some guy is crossing a border in a snowy/wintry place and gets shot while crossing. As soon as he's over the other side, the guards shooting him stopped, because he was no longer fair game (not on their side of the border). He was probably dead but it was a triumphant moment because he got across the border, which had seemed to be his ultimate goal. I realize this is not much to go on, but with the mind being what it is, it's all I've got. I may be wrong on it being a docu-drama, it may well have just been a fictional story but I recall seeing an interview at the end of the movie (a la Titanic) so I thought I'd pop that in there. Every now and again, I recall that final scene, my childlike mind sad and ecstatic at the same time and now it's come to a point where I'd really like to see that movie again and either dispell the romantic memory I have of it, or relive the genuine awesomeness that I remember it as.
Sounds great but also sounds too recent to be what I'm looking for. I'm going to have a watch and make sure, though.
Enemy at the Gates? I kinda doubt it though, I don't remember how it ended or if I ever saw the ending. It was really just one of the random movies that was on a lot at the time when I was napping between work and school. Still good if only for a shot of Rachel Weisz rear.
Sounds like this is it. But now I've got three films to watch thanks to this thread. Cheers chaps, rep to all
