The top lens in the camera (the one with all the little squares that i think are for focusing) is raised off the metal frame its supposed to sit on by about a millimeter. I'm not sure if this will affect picture quality but would like to get the lens back in place. What area of the camera would be easiest to access this, as I cant go from the front were the lens attachs. I need to come from above or behind to push the lens back down. I have tried to take some of the panels off, but the scews are on there so tight they begin to strip, any suggestions for getting them out without stripping the screws?

Alright..First of all, unless you really know what you're doing, stop unscrewing things. The best thing you could do is to get it checked out by a local camera shop. Some places will take a look at it and see what they can do there and if they can't figure it out, it can be sent in for repair. The less you mess with it now, the cheaper that will be. Never, ever touch the mirror or the shutter, that's a big no-no.

Go to a camera shop, get it checked out. Self repair on sensitive parts is not the best idea for a camera such as the rebel 2000.
