Firstly - I have a wanadoo adsl which connects to the computer via usb. When I connect to my gaming pc, I get a strong connection for about 2 minutes then the connection stops altogether. Then I connect to my laptop and it works fine? To try and fix this I have uninstalled and installed about 4 times no with no avail. Secondly - When I press "launch" on half life 2 - the preparing to launch window comes up, but where is says 100% ready changes to downloading paused but I have downloaded all the updates - then the preparing to launch window goes off and nothing changes. Please help as I have given up the will to live and the computer has almost gone out the window
Do you have the drivers installed? Since it works on your laptop It has to be you computer. Have you tried and jack it in another USB port ? as for the HL2 part. Try and reinstall the latest patch/download. sounds lame but google and type your exact problem:halvelife2 launcher keeps downloading and then stops.(or anything like it) You will find alot of forums containing those fanatic gamers that have the same problems.
