Just building my air cooling case, so I hopefully won't have to keep buying new ones forever with crappy airflow :)

I need some help with some rather important stuff though.

As you can see it's a cube. The idea is to have the motherboard on top, and psu/hdd in the bottom. This, however, requires a midsection in the cube. Something to hold the motherboard.

So what I need, is an idea for how to make this floating midsection... Not float!

I've had several ideas, all of which worked for above mentioned. So why do I ask? Well because there's another criteria. I still want to be able to take 3 of the sides off (not necessarily at the same time).

Hope you get the idea. Ask away if you need more info.

    Here's the file:

So you need assembly and mounting solutions? What will this be made out of?

polycarbonat. 4mm thick. Think it should be thicker to hold the motherboard and all the equipment?

    Threaded steel rods and nuts?
From the bottom plate to the middle plate, or maybe the whole way upp to the roof.

Threaded Rod looks like a bolt, but without a head on the end (i.e. it is threaded from one end to the other) and you use nuts on it just like you would a bolt.

hm, I think I know what you mean. I will try to figure something out when I get home today.

I just thought I'd explain the criteria again, as I might have explained it poorly.

I want to be able to take 3 of 4 sides off (the 4th being the one with the mbtray). NOT at the same time, just for easier assembly.

Any suggestions appreciated. One idea leads to another :)

I don't go less than 3/16" (5mm) for any casing materials, and for a MB given the weight it supports, I personally prefer 1/4" (about 6mm). Polycarbonate is good stuff however.

I downloaded and took a look at your sketchup file. I see two ideas. One would be to build a frame to attach your panels to. The frame would hold the weight and keep the structure intact.

Second, you could also attach strips onto the side pieces that would support the MB tray and sit just up underneath the edges of the tray. This way if you remove a side, the strips on the other sides would still support the tray. You could use rectangular acrylic tubing to do this with if you are planning on having the case clear.
