Personally i would never buy a PDA again. Its too clumsy, and smartphones do almost the same things nowadays.

I've been playing with an n95 in work for a bit, and to be honest its way too laggy, and the software is really bugged (like all n-series phones when initially released).

Personally Im sticking to my blackberry.

It was probably so cheap because they sold it together with a contract. It's illegal in my native country, but legal in the UK.
Basically, if you purchase a contract/subscription (paying monthly etc) to a mobile phone network, they have arrangements which allow them to sell the phone at a cheaper price. I've even seen advertisements where they just give you the phone for free (older models mostly, not N-series ;)).

we call it subsidies in the trade, try to entice you into the contract. That's all going to change in the future.

the future's bright... The future's paying for your phone!

But it makes more sense this way, you sign up for a contract for 12 months and you get a reduced price phone.

It does make some sense, I guess, especially because every operator (don't know if you call them that in English... either way, like mobile phone companies/networks/Orange etc) seems to do it.

In Belgium, only the two biggest operators tried to implement this. The third, then still small one (Orange), filed charges for "unfair competition" (which is against teh law... like slandering competition in commercials) and won.

Ever since then, this "dual sales" has been forbidden.

I stay well clear of mobile phone contracts. I am 'pay as you go' and a-loving it. All these special things like free airtime, free texts etcetera confuse and scare the hell out of me :blah:
