I need a new webcam. You've all seen the pics of me, those are taken with my current "webcam". Very crappy. Since I'm developing a webapp that requires a webcam, I'm sure spending a bit of green on this would be no luxury. I'm very impressed with the built-in iSight of my brother's Macbook. The quality is just phenomenal, and that's the kind of quality I want from my new webcam. I'm currently inclined to order the Logitech Quickcam Pro 9000. People say it exceeds the quality of the iSight. It's also (barely) within my budget. Does anyone here have any first-hand experience with this one? I can't seem to find any serious objective reviews, or images taken with one. Some pics taken with one to display the quality would be awesome, too! Or if anyone has any other recommendations? Thanks!
The microsoft vision ones are apparantly really good. I like my Creative Webcam Live though, it lets me stream 640x480 over skype rather then 320x240.
Do you mean this one? Looks good too, indeed. They both have autofocus and a 2MP ccd, and they're both in the same price-range, although this one is 10% more expensive. Edit: Umm, maybe another requirement: there have to be linux drivers for it. For the moment I don't think those two cams have official or unofficial linux drivers .
THIS is the official list of Linux Webcam drivers for Creative. That's not the webcma I use, I use an older version of this I'm planning on stripping it doen and stealthing it into my 24" Dell
