Short time after exposing mobo to gas ring Notice the zif socket.......this was before the gas ring experiment...wish i had tried the cooker first....
Almost there....just a few surface mount components to remove then going to try a brillo pad on the board to try and make the traces more visible....
Couldnt believe the components just fall off when u put it over the cooker ring......heat it up and one small tap and u got a pile of components Except the small surface mount resister and the like have to brush them off
Motherboard as mouse mat (Update) Well all the components are off...bit of wet and dry to get rid of the remaining solder then a brilo pad to bring the traces to the surface....
Just in case anyone fancied purchasing a premade one http://www.edenstore.co.uk/statione...it+board+Mouse+mat&type=stationery+>+recycled <A88>
Awesome ideas HA HA HA I can't believe how wonderful and interesting this stuff gets. Now if only to plate a car with pc boards...
Hmm...I have an old pos mobo lying around someplace. darn, mousemat-taken notepad-taken hmm...*thinks to self*
Cut it up for coasters? Mount it in one sidepanel instead of a window? With a strong enough light behind it, it should glow interestingly! (I don't have an old mobo around, so anyone who wants to run with these, go nuts! )
Forgot to say, I didn't make it, my dad got it off a supplier at work. Everything is removed on it and it's completely smooth.
Thats ok i live off fast food anyway....lol Well this is the remains of the parts removede from the board [/IMG] And my optical mouse seems to work quite well on it Giong to see if i can get some perspex next week to finish it off.....the mobo has twisted slightly but not to worry give it some more heat and straighten it
You should coat the pcb with envirotex. It's a clear epoxy compound. Zapwizard used it to create his wooden mousepad.
Thx for that was also thinking of using some sort of epoxy for the coating to totally encase the mobo..... Will sort something out
...put it in a frame-taken I have a fully functional ASUS P/I-P55T2P4 Board haning on the wall here. (unsolderd keyboard connector.. it looked ugly) I might try out this mousemat idea
