hiyas all, i did a search on the forum but i didnt get out any useful information for me. i got 3 displays which i would like to connect to my computer to show me some information: all of these are called phico D-0 94V-0 one is a P60-1: i guess 20x2 (or maybe 16x2) not chips on the back to tell me which controller ic is used - it has 20 pins in a row to connect and few power connectors. i can post pictures if u need. other 2 displays are P166: should be 40x4 i think. they have this HD44780 controller on their back and 14 pins in a row and also power connectors on the side of the display. my questions: 1. can i use these diplays on my computer ? if yes: 2. how and where to i connect them - i guess on parallel port or ? 3. where to find wiring layouts and other information on these ? 4. which software should i use on the computer ? (the smaller display should be connected to my gaming machine and show stats like cpu / ram usage and temperature - the big displays should get into other computers which should act like mp3/dvd/streaming player) would be great if u can help me. i searched the web alot but didnt find any information which could explain to me in easy words. cheers richard
LCD F.A.Q - Read that first most of your questions are answered in it (software etc). Good luck with it.
check the photos i add to first post ... 2nd display seems to be standard but the 1st one has a 20 pin connector.
looking at the picturee i would guess backlight from were the traces are going, whip out your multi meter in continuity checker mode, and see if the extra (pin num 14>) connect to those pads on the right of the top image. Or just try hooking it up as standard HD44780 compatable, odds are it will be that (or it won't blow up from it).
i found a piece of very small paper between display and the controller board - hehe this shows: 1 gnd 2 vdd (+5v) 3 vee 4 5 6 7 res 8 9 10 dbo 11 db1 12 db2 13 db3 14 db4 15 db5 16 db6 17 db7 18 19 vled1 20 vled2 its worth a try - does the display show anything when i connect +5v to 2 and gnd to 1 and nothing else ??? the manufacturer is called data vision or data international but i search whole day and didnt find any webpage ... any hints on this ? also i checked the big on ... it seems to be a 4x20 display - ill add the +5v to the backlight and controller and will check if somethings happening. (had them at home unused for few years now) cheers richard
