Can anyone help me out and tell me where to get some really small diameter solder for working on a PS2 mainboard? I only need a small amount.

The stuff I've got is way to wide to work with.

Product codes etc would be brilliant :D thanks in advance.

Think the thinest Maplins do is 0.8mm.

    EDIT: Farnell do 0.5mm...

One clever trick: flatten regular solder with pliers and use wire cutters to cut the flattened section lengthwise.

Maplin have gone all lead-free... :waah: :waah: :waah:

That only leaves Rapid, unless you want OTT delivery from RS.

Whats wrong with lead-free? I've noticed virtually no difference (using lead free silver solder) in ease of use, reliability etc. Though saying that I do a small amount of pretty standard type soldering.

Cool, I should be able to sort something out now. Thanks :)

Is it a good time to ask about flux? i.e. should I be using some? I've read about it, but never used/seen it before..
