at least he's putting effort into his posts.
I know i wouldn't sign up to an Arabic language user based forum and try and speak arabic, nevermind get to over 1000+ posts... Too much effort.
    He's making an effort.
    Fair play to the lad.

He is, but only special schools give you an A for effort. In real life you either make the grade, or you don't.

I think people need to focus on CK's request here. He wants to improve his English. We can give him some constructive and sensible advice to enable him to do this, or we can patronise him by saying that we think he's doing really, really well for a foreign chap... I think I know which would be of more use to him.

I once talked to a girl who was deaf. I was stunned by how good she could read lips. As long as i looked at her when speaking it's wasn't any problem. She could speak pretty well too.

People like that really impress me. (OK, someone have done that since they were children, and are used to it, but it's still impressing IMO. Can't be easy)

BOT: I think reading English daily will improve your skills. And reading trough your own posts before posting is also a good idea. (Most of the mistakes i do happen because i rarely bother to read trough what i write. English is my second language, BTW)

the best way to learn english is living somewhere where they talk it.....

before moving to the uk recently, i've been in the south of england for a month a few years back... during that month i've learned more english than in all english lesons in school combined.

Scandinavians dont count when it comes to learning language as it seems to be some kind of weird innate abilty you all have built in :)

I suck so much at learning languages - maybe its because I dont try hard enough but I have just never been able to pick them up very well. My best ever grade was a C at GCSE in german :p Though im gonna try and learn german again next year "on the side" as I am living with a german so think it might be quite nice for both her and me.

Well, in Norway we start learning English in primary school. (i started in the 3rd. grade, but i think they begin in 1st. grade now) I think Sweden and Denmark have about the same system as well. Besides, the grammar and some words are pretty similar.

I tried learning German a few years back, but i don't remember much of it now, unfortunately. I think that was because we had 9 teachers during that year. (only one of them had a clue (she was german), but she stayed for only 3 weeks or so)

I'd say learning languages is more about talent than simple learning.
For example, I've been learning the german language since year 2 (6-7), I've lived in Germany for ages and I still don't know any German whatsoever, not even any simple phrases.

Read an on-line news papers. Use spell check, and go to classes. More or less what every one else said. Good luck.

Try and make the ESOL exams from Cambridge University (at least the First Certificate in English), if you want to learn it really well (near-native) and want to add your English skills to your curriculum.

Or... Spend some time in an English speaking country: It helps a lot! :thumb:

Are there any English Institutes/Schools in Egypt?

Not to nit pick, but while your english is quite good for a language that isn't your mother tongue, it could be vastly improved by just rereading your posts or maybe if you have it available to you; Microsoft Word (or other similar) that will offer spelling tips and gramar correction.

Also.. For the love all things good. Please please PLEASE stop going "WOOOOOOOOOOTTTTTTTT BEESSSSSTTTT EEVVVVEERRRRRRR WOWOOWOWOWOWWOOOOOOOOTTTTTTT" In the project logs, I don't know about anyone else but it pisses me off something absolutely rotten. It's immature, and makes you seem immature. Subsequently it makes me feel like there's no point in reading any posts of yours in the logs forums and others as I know it's going to be the same random crap as usual.

I can't agree more. By using the same example and modifying it, try not doing this (in bold):

"WooOO00000000T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111111 ONE ONE ONE ONE ONE..."
As, this, demonstrate that your not even making an effort to read what you type, and show that you don't really mean what you just said.

The above post was pretty good actually.
I don't think I can improve upon the advice of just listen to it all the time, stuff like the BBC World Service or reading newspapers written in English should help to improve it dramatically.

I've spent quite many years learning English in school, and the best lessons for me personally were reading a short article, memorizing it and reciting to the teacher/class in your own words. However break the speech barrier I did have to be dropped in the middle of English speaking people. (sorry I know Americans don't really speak English)

Either way here's a really useful website. On the left hand side there are many great lessons. http://www.better-english.com/

I dont mean to be nasty in any way CK, but it almost seems like you rush your posts when replying or creating a new thread.
Nexxo's surgestion of BBC World Service is a good idea and can be found here
By all means, my English is not perfect, and i have lived in the UK for 19 years.

    Quoting your last post:
It would read better possibly if it looked like this:

Firstly, if someone wants to hit at me for editing it slightly into the way i would have typed it, please do so.
However, one thing i am very impressed with CK, is your use of capital I's, that is proper english.

At the end of the day, learning another language is difficult, however, given time, and practice, it makes perfect.

Hope this helps in someway with out offending any body.

    Sam

I think I'm good at writing and reading and I know alot of words and Spell them very good but the problem when I meet with a some one talk english, I find my self can't speak very good or can't explain what I want, I feel that my English got deleted when I meet a english man, And this sux. This happen to me all the time, In the shops, School and Voice chat with my USA Buddy. It's kinda make me feel bad about my self. Also the Grammer some times don't help me and I find my self saying crap talk or not understandable talk. Also when I listen to radio BBC News or watch it on TV I can understand what they are saying and some times new words I don't know I look out it.

So I really want to fix that very fast. Thanks very much, CK.

Here in Portugal, English at school isn't enough, so people usually apply for the ESOL exams from Cambridge University, through a private institute.

In my opinion, this is the best way to improve your English, but it'll take around two years to get ready for each exam (if you want to get an A).

(In my case I've studied English for 14 years, in an Institute, apart from the English at school. :duh:)
