You'll find trucks often slipstream one another, you were just caught in the middle.

    saves them gas.

yeah.... an old seat marbela that can't accelerate very fast and gets unstable at high speeds and can roll to a side when curving at high speeds, is a safe car at <50km/h the maximum speed i can do in the city around here (out of the city i can do 90Km/h, on the highway 120 and on the "fast way" 100), but when i am on a straight-ish road with a clear view ahead and good conditions for grip and a ****er in a BMW/mercedes/subaru impresa/mitsubushi evo/tuned peugeot 206/audi/tuned honda civic starts horning at you and tailgatering you while doing 55km/h on a up to 50km/h road and then overtakes you on a no overtake zone with incoming traffic and gives you the middle finger is very nice, especially when they end up hitting another car head on or a tree. (yes this happens a lot on straight-ish road with a clear view ahead and good conditions for grip, and some times the divers that overtake do it into another person car, into kids, into old people, out of bridges, into houses and trees and other stuff and end up killing people).

anyway do you know you can get a speeding ticket for doing 40 on a 50 zone?

If your car is that unstable, you might need new shocks.

    nope, i am saying 40km/h on a 50km/h road

if you have an accident and go against something or someone, the first fine the policeman will be giving you is a speeding ticket, even if there is proof you were not over the maximum speed limit or even if it was not your fault.
the definition of speeding here is roughly translated to the next:
"a speed at which you cant immobilize the vehicle in a safe distance"
so if you were going at 40, a tire busted and you went into a tree or into another car or the guy in front braked hard and you hit him or a person jumped in front of your car you are effectively speeding.
and yes there are lots of people that get these around here.

you do know what a seat marbella is.....

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SEAT_Marbella

light, weak, simple and dangerous.... and of course cars like these are common in several parts of the world.....

edit: and i have one to drive as soon as i get my license...

Not exactly a case of a negligent driver, but...

Driving home from a mates place the other week, some guy in a Hyundai Excel (lol @ him driving a females car) was tail-gating me. Hence I did the typical thing of tapping my brakes to make him back off. But noooo, he decided he wanted to have a bit of road rage and proceeded to come into the lane next to me once the car already in that lane had turned off and attempted to run me off the road in to oncoming traffic.

I'm going to put it all down for him trying to compensate for him driving a Hyundai Excel and me driving my ricer, lol. Got his rego, etc... lying around somewhere, I surely would hate for me to find his car parked somewhere one day. ;)

That would be called drafting. :) It saves fuel because there is less air resistance. It's also used in racing where one sling-shots out from behind the car (or other vehicle) they're drafting.
