Yeah as a working man with a family to take care of, as you are as well, I don't have an unlimited budget to spend on what is in the end a bit of fun in my spare time. I've never used the latest gear in a mod because quite frankly, I can't afford to. Those fittings will look good with the different colored liquid flowing through them.
I was using the Bitspower fittings as an example but yeah that is a lot to spend. As long as your happy with the quality of the plastic fittings. I wouldn't want them to crack and ruin your mod.
Fan-freaking-tastic Brian. I absolutely love it! That floor has taken an already great concept, and definitely put it over the top.
This is some seriously ingenious modding here mate! I love that floor, and the open front is nothing short of awesome. The only problem with this PC is that it will be way too awesome to even sit on the floor under a desk, yet too heavy for any desk to carry Keep them updates flowing, i like
Kick-*ss manifold idea. It's going to be tricky to keep the last layer from clouding when you hit it with the glue. The solvent in the channels gets trapped in there and can't evaporate. You could try running a vacuum (in reverse, or you could flame out.) through the holes to purge the fumes. I'd do the bottom layer last, so the possible cloudy bit would be obscured by your coolant.
Thanks ringo! Yeah, these fittings are brand new on the market, and I believe will sell for around $1.50 each. They come in many colors (color matched to Primoflex tubing) and are paintable as well. Not a bad option for people on a budget. Should be available at Moddersmart by next week. Was talking with Geno (the designer of the fittings) and he said they will be quite durable and last at least 10 years or more. Thanks Craig! LOL well, I KNOW Trident will be lighter than BSG, and that's sitting on my desk so I should be ok! Good point, I'll watch for it. The channels will be open on each end, I could set up a small fan at one end to help get some airflow through there just to make sure.
Smallish update: Only had a short amount of time this weekend, so I thought I'd tackle the hard drive covers. I took 3 pieces of 1/4" transparent blue acrylic cut to hard drive size: Looks cool held up to the light. I set up my router table with a 3/4" round-over bit to give me a nice wide curve around the plexi. First piece cut. A little rough, but I'll smooth them out in a bit. A couple minutes on each edge with a mouse sander and 220grit sandpaper and I have this: I purposely rounded only three sides on the top and bottom piece, and only the 2 sides on the middle piece. This way, even though they are separate pieces, they work together to make up a larger canvas for the next step. I'll need to sand these a bit more in preparation for paint. Then I will apply a mask with a trident-ish graphic. But that's for another time.
Here's a little show of some progress I made before all the other goings-on this last weekend (daughter's 2nd birthday party). T3 reservoir mockup with tubing! I'll get some more detail shots of them up a bit later.
I've got no words to say that you haven't heard before, so I'll just give you a few lame emoticons...
Not planning to have an optical drive in this PC? That is an awesome Rad series though, very well thought out
LOL thanks guys. Yes, I'll have a slimline slot loading optical drive just under the bottom res. Made a special recess in the floor just for that. Thanks man.
Got enough loops? No wonder you need that awesome floor... The entire insides would be full of tubing! Beautiful work...
