I second that! Now I'm gonna have a hard time enjoying the sun here in Greece in anticipation of seeing coolant flowing through that... lol
I admire your talent man and your passion! Thats is something that words can only do harm if I try to describe it as a human! .......
Thanks man! Thanks guys. Shouldn't be long now! Thanks r4tch3t! Thank you. lol I took a break from modding once... now I have TWO kids. haha actions speak louder than words in this case. I was thinking of you when I took that clamping picture. Monkey hairs I hope.
A smallish update: DVD drive mounting and cover Here's how I mounted the optical drive: It sits in a recessed area of the floor, just underneath the bottom T3 reservoir. The drive I'm using is the Pioneer K05 slimline slot-loading drive. It's a DVD player and recorder. To mount the drive, I am utilizing this dual drive 5 1/4" bay mounting plate. Just the part above the dotted line. Bent the tabs at the appropriate height... ... marked the holes, drilled and tapped into the floor. Since the slot-loading optical drive is situated beneath the bottom T3 and will be visible, I needed to make a cover for it. I did a quick cover for the lan, but it wasn't perfect. So I used it as a template to make a new one, with some changes. This shot shows all the pieces before gluing. Once glued, I proceeded to carefully cut the slot in front. I used the thinnest file I had to slowly widen the slot. A shot from the end shows it's pretty straight and even. Time to stop filing! Sanded, primed, sanded, painted, pearled, and positioned over the drive. A bit of double-sided tape will keep it from moving around (it won't need anything more, since it will be basically locked in place under the res).
Those Pioneer drives are outstanding Brian. I've had a pair of K06's that I've been using reliably for several years now. Not a single coaster out of literally thousands of burns.
Great work on the cover mate. I was looking at those slot load BlueRay drives for a HTPC mod, they are about $300-400AUD over here lol, you can get them on Newegg for about $250USD I think.
I concur. I have several Pioneers and a couple of Panasonics as well. The Pioneers are MUCH quieter. Both my Panasonics are dead now. POS. I see you passed on the eject button. I don't blame you. Making a pass-through was probably the single most painful thing I've done in modding. Looking good! No one keeps a theme going like you do.
that slot loader is sweet, I've got a tray loader slim blu-ray drive, but its looking like I am going to have to mount it external thats what I get for not waiting for a slot loader bluray
