We all know it's been done before, but i wanna have my owm version. Ok so i've got a few things picked out. for the mobo i'm going to use a Nehemiah EPIA M 10000 the hdd is going to be a 20gb seagate laptop drive. i'll also be using a Panasonic slotload CDRW/DVD. Now as for the power supply the one i'm looking at is a Lex 60W PSU with a dc-dc converter. Thats pretty much what i've got so far. is there anything i'm missing? other then cables and that stuff. If things go right i should be starting this project in a few weeks.
well, you also need a 2.5 to 3.5 inch ide adapter available at mini-itx.com, but theres gotta be places in the us to get it. also, if the dvd/cdrw drive is a laptop one, youll need an adapter for that too. plus, youll need memory for it. other than that, youre good to go
why not just buy an xbox and turn it into a nes/snes/psx/neogeo/N64 machine. Easy too. pretty expensive setup you have there just for a nes machine
it's not a pc just to play nes games, it's a pc in a nes shell. anyhow ya i forgot to add on the memory and ya i'm not gunna be ordering from the mini itx site cause it would get expensive fast that way.
Naw you need to get two original controllers and hack yourself a parelel port interface for them and use them with all thier original plugged glory.
nah nah he could just get to of the DIY kits from retro zone and connect them to the ports on the nes
I made a NESPC and it never really performed as well as I thought it would. My spec was: Nehemiah EPIA M-10000 Laptop CD drive 256mb ram 1u power supply - similar to a shuttle PSU - this was internal. 40gb hard drive - this is a normal 3½" drive but is shorter, normal drives are something like 26mm and this is 18mm so is good for SFF pc's If you want to do a different nes I would get a nice small amd mobo and squeeze that into the nes - it has been done b4 [Linkage] It would also perform a whole lot better, I think the epia 1gig performs the same as a duron 800. This is also a great place to get info
well i've switched the mobo so i can get alittle more power out of it. i'm going to use the Insight P4 ITX. This way i can use a p4 in it, now my real problem is heat i think. i'm thinking of a way to use the little vents on top to blow air out. also does anyone know of a heatsink and fan that is shorter then the stock one? i have a p4 with stock heatsink and fan and it's just a littel shorter then 3" and i have only about 3" height to work with. *edit* Found a sink for it it's a 1u sink only an inch tall.
I made one 2 i used the epia 800 used it a couple of times then it losts it frill neat while it lasted I letting a friend use now
Well i have got the final build togather and have made a sketchup model of it. P4 2Ghz insight P4 ITX 512MB ddr pc2100 Lite-On dvd burner (coming out of my main pc as a new dual layer is going in) WD Scorpio 40GB (2.5 laptop drive) 200W dc-dc ps 2 60mm fans Well here is the sketch of it, it's not got everything in there and i dont plan on finnishing it. I've made sure everything will fit. And the model is to scale. Now to buy the parts.
Well i've got it all planed out, i've got the nintendo case ready for the mobo. now just to get some damned parts for this thing. From my sketches i sould have a lot of room in there, well a lot more then i thought. Also is there any way to make/buy custom length ide cables? i would like to keep the ide cables as short as possible to cut down on clutter in there. As for keeping the stock controller plugs i'm not going to i'm going to but 4 usb ports up front, so i can have 2 usb nintendo controllers and a keyboard and mouse hooked up.
