Bah! Housewives who get bored obviously have too much time on their hands. Maybe they should get on with the ironing... ;) Anyhoo, this from the Beeb:

Middle-aged women are getting hooked on card games and puzzles online, says a report.

While hardcore online gaming remains the preserve of young men, research firm Screen Digest found that "bored housewives" are fuelling the growth of other games offered on the net.

Females make up 65% of the growing market in skill-based games such as cards, solitaire and puzzles.

This kind of casual gaming is estimated to have been worth £270m in 2003.

You know, that's not too far from the truth. I think I almost lost my wife to The Sims. She played on-line Hearts at Yahoo games for the longest time, also. But, just like anything else in life, she eventually got bored with it and moved on. Now all she plays is Age of Titans, well that and all the myriad of other games she downloads from Yahoo. Damn Yahoo games, cluttering up my HDD.

Yeah, this summer she gets her own computer. No more Yahoo games on my machine, nosiree.

Sims was the reason i got my gf a PC (well bought me a knew one she had my old one, the one with all the sim add-ons that were virus's, when will ppl learn that a 48kb file off kazaa is not likely to be an add on for the sims).

Then it was online monopoly, ordering me to get online with her so she can rig her games .... not quite cs or what ever form of online gaming floats your boat.

Now she plays There, and if it were'nt for the fact that we have no cable due to moving flat we would'nt speak to each other. :D if it shut's her up whilst i get in a few games of cs/farcry/ut wotever i'm happy.

Y'all need to get some real women. The Sims....BAH! My wife is a housewife...younger than middle-aged. She plays Day of Defeat, Raven Shield, Medal of Honor, and Unreal Tournament. Kicks pretty good butt too. Now that's a woman! :baby: :D

damn dawg. my mom is like 46 and she playes this poker game. feh. her and my dad do it. i wonder if i can get her into playing somthing like the sims .... and then advance her into like a real time stragity game like the age of wahtever games where you make a cit. or even sim city =)

sim city 2000 was the best game out of all the sims.

but ya. that statistic is pure truth. :wallbash:

She gets a new computer? No no no - that's not how you do it. This is a perfect excuse for YOU to get a new computer. She gets the old one.....
(You can probably come up with some really good reasons why too; "I need it when I work from home" was always my best one..........)

I suppose I wasn't very clear in my previous post.

Translate that to: I get a new computer, she gets my old (3 months) one. Hey, it's new to her, right? ;)

It's not really old now, and will play whatever sim game she wants for quite some time to come. I just hope I never have to hear the annoying chatter of Rollercoaster Tycoon ever again!

What's this, Gone are the days of the bored housewife playing with the washing machine repairman?

Bet the bloke over the road from me wishes he'd known this sooner, he found his wife playing with the postman!!.

As for the sims, obviously there's an opportunity to control every aspect of a blokes life without him disappearing down the pub when there's diy to do.
