Looking for a netbook (ultraportables are just too expensive, got a budget of 300€) Does anyone know the difference between the: EEE 1001P EEE 1005P EEE 1005PE apart from OS (1001P XP 1005's Win7) and HDD-size (P's 160GB PE 250GB)? Hmmm, the 1001P doesn't even exist on the ASUS site Xir
win 7 on a netbook is in general not a good idea. They usauly lack the ram to run it properly. Id stick to xp if i had a choice. depends what you need this netbook to do. as to what id recomend
From looking at the Newegg pages, the 1005PE and the 1001P are almost identical (the 1005P isn't on there). The only differences seem to be the 1005PE has a "Color-shine" screen whereas the 1001P has a matte screen. And the battery life is advertised as 14 hours versus 11 hours, respectively. As for Windows 7, I've had it on my Eee 1000 since the beta and it works fine. But I have upgraded to 2 gigs of RAM.
Sure... I've looked at some over the weekend, the 1005's here in Germany have a matte screen The Missus would really like an 11" model with the higher 13somethingx700 resolution. There's no N450 version of the 11" EEE though. In the 10" area, I really liked the HP Mini210, which for the same price has a SIM-card insert (so integrated UMTS?) a nicer keybourd (island keys) AND is a whole CM slimmer. The screen takes glossyness to a new level though, you actually see more behind you than on the screen. So No. Doesn't make things easier.
My netbook currently has Vista Home Basic on it, but I had Windows 7 Professional running quite happily, although granted I do have 2gb ram in mine. I'd recommend my own Acer Aspire AO751h netbook to you, or a newer model with Windows 7 on it anyway. Its got an 11.6" widescreen screen, 250gb hard drive and 2gb ram. Its available in very shiny nice colours and I find unlike 10" or smaller netbooks that the screen and keyboard are both very useable.
the Acer Aspire One 751 (if you mean that) that's sold here is an Atom Z520 1.33GHz • 1024MB • 160GB. I see Scan in UK has it for 275 euro's but on the continent it's 400euro's...darn! Anyway too late I've ordered the EEE 1001p yesterday Mainly based on some good reviews that rate it's screen higher than the 1005's. Besides it's got XP on it.
They sell the Aspire One 751 in two model streams, with the 1gb and 160gb, and a bit more rare but still available, the 2gb and 250gb which I have I know someone with an older EEE and he loves it so I'm sure you'll be happy.
