I've been using the Netgear 3300v2 Router since the beginning of the month without a problem until the last couple of days. It's configured to use both Wireless G and Wireless N and has the latest firmware.

A couple of days ago I started losing access to my NowTV Box and reconnection was flaky, this was followed by one of the Laptops losing access totally and the printer having intermittent access. All these devices are on the Wireless G network.

The devices on the Wireless N network and the desktop with wired access continue to work without a problem.

The only thing I can see in the Router is that none of the devices, including those on the Wireless N network, are consistently displayed in the 'Attached Devices' section of the Router and in fact although the desktop connected OK it was showing the Workgroup rather than Computer name in the 'Device Name'.

The Router has been switched on permanently since the beginning of the month and I noticed that the temperature of the side is over 40ºC but my other routers have also run quite hot as well.

I thought maybe it was a firmware problem as I upgraded it shortly after receiving it and tried to downgrade to the previous version but it won't let me do that.

Any suggestions for things to try and identify the problem?

I'm pretty certain it's an overheating problem. For the moment I'm using a small fan spinning slowly which drops the Router case temps by at least 10ºC and I've had no problems since then.

Long term I'm planning on fitting some spare copper RAMsinks to the internal chips and opening up the ventilation holes in the case.
