Hi, I'm about to hook up a Netgear DG834GT to my BT ADSL, are there any username or passwords I will need from my previous router for the new router to work? I've just about had enough of the crap this homehub causes. Very tempted to thermite it to make sure it's dead.

Your ADSL username & password is usually all you need.

Just the username and password you're using for your broadband. With BT, this is generally your BT Yahoo password. Same router as I'm using actually :)

As above, you need the username and password, then the ADSL settings are:

    Multiplexing Method: VC
    VPI: 0
    VCI: 38

I'd also recommend using different DNS' to BT, theirs tend to bog down at busy periods. I had no end of problems with them until I switched to Google.

ive never had to enter my username/password into the hub - even after a replacement one was sent out to me.

You say its just my BT yahoo details? I'll give them a try when I'm home to test it out.

Basically the BT Radius authenticates the domain name in order to forward sessions to the relevant ISP's that use the BT Wholesale Broadband platform infrastructure. All BT Retail users are only authenticated against the domain name portion of the username.

That's because BT set it up for you when you buy their router
