I'm attempting to install Debian on my 1Ghz G4 eMac, and failing miserably. It cannot connect the the network, through DHCP or otherwise. Can anyone shed some light on the situation? Thanks.

    In case something doesn't work:

lspci => Check if the card is found
lsmod => Check if the module is loaded, if not modprobe
lspci => check if card is identified

ifconfig /a => check if the interface is found.

then, set it up with ifconfig.

    HTH

Tried already. The built in shell on the Debian CD doesn't have any of those commands.

You could try an other distro, like Gentoo ;)

Are you using the 4.0 cd?

You could try the ubuntu alternative install cd, that has loads of rubbish, euhm drivers, included...

Or the Debian buisnesscard/full install, in my experience they are quite different

OR, boot an other live cd (like Gentoo) and see what hardware it is... Sometimes a manual modprobe does wonders.

I think I have a PPC Ubuntu disc lying around somewhere...

And... that doesn't work either. ifconfig tells me eth0 is there, put it still won't get dhcp offers, or let me set it up manually.
