Neuros, maker of the Neuros MP3 Audio Device has released the schematics of its device. In it's statement: For interested readers, the whole schpiel is Here And for those of you who just can't wait to get your hands on the goods, the schematics are Here I think this is an interesting move. A $250 MP3 player essentially being given away to anyone with the guts to try to build it. I like it.
Is this the first instance of a company releasing the schematics of a device they were selling? (I know there's the CMOY, but they aren't sold commercially, unless you go to Ebay...) - H.
But even those don't sell the actual circuit used, do they? They just sell the premade board that you plug your hdd into?
Or try yampp.com if your realy into building a free mp3 player. Im going to buy one of them kits at some stage in life, only because the parts would be hard to source in N.Z. Just my 2 cents worth.
OMG, THANK YOU who_me! I've been looking for a good project and wanted to make an MP3 player for my truck, but wasn't sure if I could design one myself (actually, I knew I couldn't). This is too cool.
Personaly i would do a google search for car mp3 player, and mp3 computer. I have seen them round before, and would most probably be cheaper, more flexible for you, and have more capacity ect. The hardest part i can see is powering the mother board off 12v.
If you're just talking about the schematic, many do. It's called a service manual. Though the company itself rarely posts them on the net.
Or have a look at http://www.pjrc.com/tech/mp3/ However, I prefer the simplicity of the yampp players. Although I haven't made an mp3 player yet, I want to as soon as I can find how to make double sided PCBs and solder surface mount chips with a zillion pins If anyone knows if there's a company that'll do this cheap, please say! ch424 P.S. Free!? That would be cool!
Actually, I want to do it as a project, so I'm going this route. Not to mention this I can cut breadboard to fit areas I need... IE I can have part of the system one place and another at a 90-degree angle to it... (not using the PCB you can buy for it)
which yampp is the best? i am a little confused. I'm going to copy the schematic to a program i use and "borrow" the cheaper parts (caps, reisitors, ect.) from 'lectronics.
