    Hey guys,

I have posted this problem before but that was with the onboard optical audio. Now I bought an Auzentech X-Fi HomeTheater HD audio card and I still can't get 5.1 audio out of it. I installed all the drivers in order and they are all up to date. I fiddled with the settings and still no luck. I checked the Auzentech console and its setup to 5.1 speakers, but in the windows sound control panel under "playback devices" I can't configure the optical connection to be a 5.1. I only get the options of running it at 2 channel with its various bitrates...

My mobo is an Asus M2N32 SLI deluxe and I am running Win 7 64.

Which speakers are you trying to run the optical in to?

In order to get 5.1 or anything more than 2channel stereo from the digital outputs optical or coax, your sound card MUST support DTS interactive/connect or DolbyDigital Live (applies to Win Vista and Win7 only, xp has a different audio subsystem).

Without DTS enabled, the digital output will only operate at 2 channels for most applications.
Movies/videos however, which have a 5.1 audio signal will have the audio encoded to 5.1 already and the data is passed to the speakers directly for decoding, thus you get 5.1.

So if you test your speakers with a .AC3 sound file or movie that is in 5.1, you should hear all speakers work in 5.1.
To get 5.1 digital output for your applications and games, you ultimately need DTS interactive/connect or DolbyDigital Live :thumb:.

I beleive that for the Auzentech card which does have support for DTS/DDL, there is a DSP panel which has options for DTS / DTS:neo pc ?? For which you will need to enable.

Well, I tried what you said with the two different encoders. DTS neo PC doesn't work, it keeps telling me to select either 44 or 48 kHz even after I did what it said. But when ever I play something all I get is weird popping sounds and static. I looked at some settings and found that the audio is jittering. I don't know what else to do.

Oh and I am using the Logitech Z5500 speakers...
