A friend has come to me asking if I can spec. a build for him that will be used mainly for video editing and audio processing. What is required is the entire base unit and the smaller the better (uATX or smaller) as it will be travelling alot apparently. So CPU, mobo, RAM, HDD, PSU, case and mayb GRX card. This is a bit of a challenge I know so show me what you got!
Better off increasing the budget a bit more. You can get a Pentium G6950 rig for that money but a Phenom 955 would be better or even a 2300 This is what i have come up with so far. It could be put into a mini ATX case.
the new Sand Bridge generation of processors have sections of the processor dedicated to making short work of video encoding, but wait until Intel have sorted out the recall on the motheboards Also you tend to pay a lot more for smaller PC components.
They do support it but I'm not sure if they are integrated into the on chip GPU so there is a possibility that if you get a P67 chipset that automatically disables the on chip GPU then this feature may not be available. H67 chipsets and non-k processors are cheaper anyway and closer to the OP's budget.
Well partly depend on use, does he need a bit more CPU (quad instead of duel) at the expense of a graphic card better than an integrated/8400.
