Okay, all parts except monitor ordered/paid for, I have to wait for another week or so to get the monitor as it is out of stock.

    Components purchased:

I changed the case to an Antec 300 as I think it gives more future options, has better cooling and is basically a much better case. The USB & audio ports being at the top will be useful as I have found out the rig will be on the floor under a desk.

I changed the RAM to the Corsair XMS3 as it was on special @ Scan and I couldn't confirm if the cheaper Kingston would work with the AMD motherboard. I went for the tried and tested for the extra £7.

The monitor price was £123 when it was in stock early this week, for some reason it has now dropped to £109 when out of stock...hmmmm :eyebrow:.

Even if I had been able to buy the monitor @ £109, it still would have left me short for a 768mb GTX460. I would of also had to drop the Antec 300. As I doubt the monitor will actually be £109, I went for a 5770 in the marketplace. I could of sourced a more powerful but older generation GPU but I went for the DX11 option for the sake of future-proofing. It will be more than he needs given his requirements.

I also have a little headroom for a Gelid Tranquilo should the stock AMD cooler be too noisy.

All in all I am very happy and I think the new owner of this rig will be as well. Onto the build beginning sometime next week.

Thanks to all who contributed to this thread, I appreciate the feedback so +rep to all. :thumb:

Yeah, also in stock at Aria & Overclockers but with all of them I would pay delivery. I don't need it just yet and CCL say they will be getting stock in Monday week so I can wait and see.

Every penny counts on this build. The buyer has called me this morning and now also wants a wireless keyboard & mouse as well as an all-in-one printer/scanner/copier. I now have two all-in-one's to source.

    Cheers

Buddy checkout that printer I showed you, I am pretty chuffed with it and the price is almost half of what you were willing to pay

Apologies for the necro bump but I had forgotten to post the final and complete build spec/cost. The irony here is that a number of these components have since dropped in price - e.g. the RAM and PSU.

The new owner is extremely happy with it, he was particularly blown away by the speed and by the quality of the screen (thank Paul).

Thanks all for the comments and advice.
