Hi all I'm building a new PC and would really welcome advice/comments on what is essentially a gaming rig. Original budget was £1200 but i'm ok to go up to £1500 if its worth it! To be honest I have never overclocked but I like to have the option. UPDATED LIST (updated with comments in blue, as at post #4): - Intel i5 2500K SandyBridge (is it worth going for the 2600k instead?) - Thermaltake Frio - Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Paste - Asus P8P67 (Standard, not Pro or Deluxe) -doesn't support SLI and real CF. Change to Pro. +£23 - Corsair XMS3 PC3-12800 - up to 8GB if possible. +£70 - GTX 570 1.3GB EVGA (any thoughts on the best manufacturer?) - - Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB (x2) - Fractal Design - Define R3 Midi - Antec TruePower New TP-650 - "Corsair AX PSU would be much better":do you mean HX? Higher Wattage? - Asus Xonar DX (is onboard audio really no good?) - no necessary - Samsung SH-B123L Blu-Ray/DVD/CD - Do I need Blu-Ray? Good point, but I don't have a blu-ray player at all - Windows 7 - Home Premium - Dell UltraSharp U2311H 23" (£219) - alt HP LP2475w but that will add ~£190 - Cyborg V5 Illuminated Gaming Keyboard (wanted a blue backlit or Razer keyboard but the reviews are all pretty weak.) - take a mechanical keyboard - Razer Imperator Gaming Mouse - bit expensive for a mouse. - Razer Sphex - Cyborg F.L.Y 5 Flight Stick - Razer Carcharias Headset I also want some affordable (£50-£100) 5.1 speakers also but just can't get my head around the best option. Any thoughts on the whole list or just specific components? Thanks
-take 2500K -Arctic Silver is great choice! -Asus standard DOES NOT have SLI nad real CF !!!! -DDR3; optimal 4GB 1.600MGHZ; great 8GB --GTX570; EVGA; Palit, Gainward,... (take Gainward Phantom if you want nice looks and a cool card) -Samsung HDD great! -a Corsair AX PSU would be much better -onboard Audio is very good these days -HP LP2475w -take a mechanical keyboard -that mouse is pretty expensive-do you have to?
I don't think a SSD is worthwhile on that budget when it include screen and windows unless he really hates boot times. Drop the sound card to get a decent speaker instead. Do you actually need a bluray player? Rest look good Split the list into the PC and then peripherals?
I mean Gold Series AX (much lower noise; you don't need constant noise out of the box, even when you don't use it, do you?) http://www.scan.co.uk/products/750w...s-gold-90-eff-sli-crossfire-eps-12v-120mm-fan http://www.scan.co.uk/products/850w...s-gold-90-eff-sli-crossfire-eps-12v-120mm-fan
