New Build - Comments Please

    hi, im planing to build a new rig and thats what i have in mind right now
    comments and advice appreciated.

    it's sort of a budget machine i dont want to go much over 1000€

    will be used for gaming and gfx work thats why i went for the quad


    CPU
    Intel Core2 Quad Q6600 4x 2,40GHz 64Bit SKT775 boxed 156€
    (not sure if maybe a q6700 would be better, cause of the higher multiplicator ?)

    COOLER
    Noctua NH-U12P 12,6-19,8dB(A) S775/AM2(+) 56,80€

    BOARD

    q6600 will be enough, you won't be doing 4Ghz on air anyway.

    everything else looks fantastic. have fun building it :)

    I say stick with the Q6600, especially if it's the GO edition:) if you can try to get hold of an OEM version, that should save you a few quid that you can use on a better heastink/fan (there aren't many beter than a Noctua, but Cooling's the major bit that you can't sacrifice)

    Nice choice of PSU and board as well, but to be honest I'd just get 2x500Gb drives as opposed to 2x640Gb (but stick with WD:p)

    Ooh, and wait til the 19th before you buy, the Q6600's coming down in price by ~7 Euros

    definately go with bigger HDD's, you will fill up those 64's really fast...

    thanks for the advice and comments, i choose the 640gb version cause it only has 2 platters = higher density = better speed :naughty:

    the q6600 is a G0 version :lol:

    for the cooler, theres still a push-pull option :D ... and the TRUE thats still king of the hill afaik isnt that much of a diffrence

    I'd be seriously surprised if anyone supplied the Q6600 B3 nowadays anyway! Unless it's real old stock, they'll all be G0.

    Nice, but I would go with the Corsair HX 620W.
    Modular cable REALLY helps air flow (if well cable managed as well).

    A not on the hard drive. I have it (on my external HDD), because there are less platter, yes it is faster, but it's more empty and lighter. In result the motor performs spin noise when turning on the computer. However, it is very quiet (for an HDD), during normal operation.
