Hello there, Bit of a complicated situation but the bottom line is i have €2500 to spend on a new pc and i´m looking to spend all of it since whatever i don´t use i unfortunately don´t get to keep myself . I´ll need pretty much everything except keyboard and mouse. Don´t get me wrong i´m not trying to spend money for the sake of spending money, i´m just trying to get the best performing pc i can get out of it. So my question to you is, if you had to spend €2500 (£2200 / $3600) on a pc, how would you spend it? This is what i´ve come up with so far: -silverstone ft02 -asus p8p67 deluxe -i7 2600k -noctua nh-d14 -8gb 1600mhz ripjaws-x -corsair ax850 -2x MSI gtx 580 Twin frozr II -asus xonar dx -2x samsung spinpoint f3 1tb -ocz vertex 3 120gb -dell u2711 monitor -corsair sp2500 speakers -blu-ray drive -windows 7 Main use will be gaming, along with some general pc usage of course. Would love to hear what you would put together or if i should change anything. Thanks a lot for any advice you can give . (p.s. i posted a thread about a new build about 2 days ago but i just found out i had to spend all of it, so i figured this warrented a new thread.)
I'd get another 8GB of RAM, but that's because the programs I use eat memory like I eat steaks. The Twin Frozer version of the GTX580 is worth a look, or possibly SLI 580s or watercooling the PC?
Since you have the cash, get the 256GB version of the Vertex. It's the fastest in the family. See http://www.anandtech.com/show/4316/ocz-vertex-3-240gb-review
Replace the CU II card with the twin frozr 2, get the 256GB version of the vertex, get the 1200W version of the PSU, also, there's no need for such a big cooler as the noctua one, get an H70 ot the be quiet dark rock pro or advanced.
maybe an ocz ibis drive? its faster than the vertex 3 @740r/w 125,000iops. cost about 100 monetary units more than vertex 3 for same size though. also get a mechanical keyboard if you don't have one (ie filco, leopold, realforce, etc). otherwise, watercooling could easily take care of 500 monetary units. or if you're more interested in sound you could step up to separate amp and high end speakers and kill several hundred monetary units there.
The NH-D14 comfortably out performs both the H70 and the Be Quiet in terms of cooling performance and noise. It was fairly easy to install too. The one con for the Noctua is the size of the HSF - this limits the RAM you can buy. Source: http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/coolers/display/corsair-h70.html
It depends on your needs and wants, but with that budget you should really consider Eyefinity/Surround. Peripherals are easily the best way to get more enjoyment out of your PC, no matter what the task. If you do a lot of 3D work, spend money here: http://www.3dconnexion.com/products/what-is-a-3d-mouse.html If you do a lot of Photoshop/drawing, get a good Wacom tablet. etc etc... No matter what you do with your PC though, ALL use cases benefit from extra screen space. You are pretty much on the money with the main components, but i would look into crossfire/SLI if you do want to go triplescreen. This is entirely possible inside your budget I don't agree with the people saying you need to buy the best SSD. Yes, the V3 256GB is the fastest one, but you won't real-world-notice the difference between any of them, the main benefit is plugging in an SSD in the first place. I'd be much more comfortable in recommending a bit bigger HDDs. Get 2 pieces of 2TB and RAID1 them for some data integrity.
I´d like a multiple monitor setup or a bigger monitor but especially if i get 2 cards to compensate for the extra power required i´d need some serious cuts in the rest of the components from what i can tell. What build would you reccomend for eyefinity/surround or a bigger monitor size?
For the record: you don't NEED dual cards for triplescreen. I've been running 3x 1920x1200 for a year now on a single 5870, and I coulnd't be happier. Just sayin' I'm not so sure where you are from, but i've made a quick list how i'd start configuring this build: http://tweakers.net/gallery/205443?wish_id=161413#tab:wenslijst Ignore the dutch text, it pretty much speaks for itself. There's still ample room to save money and free up budget for a dedicated soundcard, bigass speakerset, headphone, whatever. You could get 2x 6950 and still be perfectly happy on three screens, just make sure you pick a model with aftermarket cooling, as the stock coolers are effin leafblowers. If you get the UD4 board and not the UD5 you save yourself another 50, and there are worthy power supplies out there for 130, so you can free up another 50 there. Frankly, if you want tangible performance, a 580 (or two of them) is just throwing away money. Yeah it's cool to top the benchmarks, but those three screens will put a smile on your face every time you boot it up, there's no substitute for that
It would help if you also posted what the intended use for that PC is. So far you've only received jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none build advices.
Max IV E or P8P67 Dlx? Z68 options around this are also due very soon too. What options does the person using it need? Features+++ or overclocking playtime?
I´m dutch actually . I´ll look into what i can put together with those components, i´ve got a 24 inch screen already which i could use as well but if i go that route towards surround i´ll need 2 other 24 inch screens as i guess 2x 23 and a 24 won´t look as good.
why did you make 2 threads ? i thought i was going insane as im sure i replied to it. Then i started thinking it was a dream. DAMM YOU I have actually replied to the other post !!!
´Twas all an elaborate trap and you fell for it ha! Heh, no the other thread i didn´t know i had to spend all of it so i was looking for the best value/performance, which i still am it´s just now i´m looking for the best performance i can get for 2500 if you know what i mean.
Probably the p8p67 deluxe since that one has a pci slot i´ll need for the wireless network adapter. The Max IV also doesn´t really seem worth the extra €100 or am i missing something? I´ll probably wait to see what the Z68s are like but are they likely to be worth waiting for over just getting a p67 now?
