Really hoping you guys can help as I'm pulling my hair out here. I've just finished putting together a gaming system with the following specs. 7800x3d Gigabyte B650-DS3H 32gb crucial ddr5 9070xt It all seems to work great until I reboot after the driver install then nothing will open or launch with the exception of file explorer. So far I've tried, 3 fresh windows installs, 2 different ssds, a different RAM kit. I then removed the WiFi card thats installed. I even resorted to changing out the motherboard them swapping the PSU as I'm using extensions on the original build. I even tried 2 different 7800x3ds and a 7600. The system performs perfectly with the 7600 installed which doesn't make any sense to me. The 7800x3ds came from Ali express but I've bought from them before and they were fine surely they can't both be knackered? Can anyone offer anything else to try? Thanks Scott
Have you gone back to the original listing and checked for recent reviews? Lot of stuff on Ali that's been rebadged or is reject pile recovery. There's a reason they're cheap!
So you've changed out everything except the GPU, and the system worked fine in all occasions where the CPU was the 7600? Not gonna lie, seems pretty clear where the issue lies. Have you updated the BIOS on both motherboards? Does it still happen if you don't enable EXPO? What if you set a static, low clock frequency?
I'm currently installing one of the 7800s in place of my 7900 and I'll see what happens if that system stops playing ball then all it can be is the CPU. They don't seem like a bargain if it's cost me a whole day.
Well I've got no real idea what's been going on TBH I tried memory again one stick at a time, expo and not expo. Tried using both sticks the same way and it worked ok but not in expo I have upped the RAM voltage to 1.375v(from 1.35v) and now it seems ok. It's very strange as I did try a different memory kit earlier and it was still the same. Head is fried with it!
Did 6 hours of prime 95 last night everything was great. Turned it off overnight and having the same issues today
Only components which were common was the GPU and sn550 SSD both removed from systems without issues. Removed both, performing fine, reinstalled GPU performing fine. Not sure why the SSD would cause this? It's been a storage drive only in the last system and this system. Showing 100% health too. It's out now and so far so good.... Nope back to playing up again WTF!
Are the motherboard standoff screws in the right place on case? Is cpu cooler backplate touching anything it shouldn't on mobo?
Yes no weirdness at the back or anything. As a final hail Mary today I installed older adrenaline drivers and disabled the igpu. So far so good but I've thought that before
