I'm building an i7 920 system around an Asus P6T SE, Sycthe Mugen cooler all housed in an Antec P193 case. Eveything works fine but after installing everything into the 193, I'm finding that the 8-pin power cable from my Corsair HX520 PSU is too short to reach the connector on the mobo with the PSU installed in the case. Obviously the build is now on hold.

Is it possible to get extension cables to get around this problem?

Also, the HX520 has three captive leads - the 24 pin ATX and 2 12V connectors with 4 pins and 8 pins. What is the 4 pin used for? I did notice that the mobo had 4 of the 12V connector holes blocked off with a plastic cap which I removed so I could plug in the 8 pin connector.
So is the 4 pin 12V lead of my PSU redundant?

[Just for the record, this is my first self-build and I've found it tough going, even though the P193 is supposed to be an easy case to work with. The biggest problem was installing the CPU cooler and it's fan, mostly due to incorrect instructions, and then installing the mobo was hassle because of the size of the CPU cooler heatsink which I occasionally had to hold on to in order to guide the mobo into position in the case - now worried that I've damaged the thermal contact between cooler and CPU]

Yes you can get extension cable its only a few quid. your 4 pin 12v lead is redundant as you have used the 8 pin instead so dont worry about it its all ok:thumb:

Do you mean one of these?

I can get one from pcworld.co.uk and collect from store for about £3.50

I'll just make that the SATA and other modular power cables are long enough to reach the optical drive and hard disks too.

Thanks for your prompt help folks, hopefully my build will be back on track very soon :thumb:

Just remember to push it in firmly ; Obvious I know but little things like that can cause 'distress' to put it lightly :D
