Equipment New camera,400D. [edit] now 30D :)

    Congrats on the new camera, the 30D's a lovely piece of kit.

    Sounds like you're much happier with this choice :)

    I made pretty much the same decision. Feature-wise, the xxxD was fine for my needs, but the 30D just feels so much nicer, a joy to use. I'm happy with mine (30D), sure you will be too. It does look stupid with that kit lens though, haha.

    Only thing left to do is to run over return the sigma and replace it with a lens that works ;) *Cough* Tamron 17-50 *Cough*

    It is not the gear that matters, but the skill of the photographer. ;)

    It pays to go a step up if you can. the Nikon D80 is just significantly nicer than a D40x; the Canon D30 has a significant edge over the EOS 400. However good ability is much more important than a great camera.
