I was looking at this if its real then its really cool. http://www.wgnradio.com/news/nationworld/sns-viral-video-high-tech-door,0,6512700.htmlstory
It's real I would say - but have they come to market in the three years since the video was made? How do the handles (or lack of?) work? Check out the BMW Z1, which was made 20 years ago.
Im fairly sure i saw a concept similar to this ages ago. Im not sure if thats real or fake but i think the concept i saw worked but dont think it ever made it to reality.
seen that before, my only worry is that its a powered door. and in the event of a t-bone accident could you still open the door after its deformed. Answer NO. You could get around this by fitting explosive pins at key points that essentially blow the mounts allowing the door to fall away outwardly, with a delay just after that of an air bag going off. Another major problem is cost, its far cheaper to make simple doors.
I like the part where the narrator says "doesn't detract from the appearance of the car" .. yes it's still ugly flashy doors or not, that said the concept is kind of cool. The doors seem to operate via a keyfob remote, which suggests that they're electrically driven which could make life interesting when the battery in either the car or remote dies.
peugeot 1007 doesnt use hinges, doesnt mean its high tech only teasing, it looks kinda cool if it wasnt for the 80's vibe
Yeah, of all the cars they could have chosen... They could have picked an Escalade or something that you can sell to the pimped out DUB rim gangsta crowd.
After watching the first video I'd say fake due to the 80's/early 90's dress sense, and the 2007 copyright. But after the top gear video, it seems real. Seems great for getting kids/car seats in and out.
Wonder if they have a worldwide patent? Or sell kits to people. I would so love to do that to my car.
That's the '93 Lincoln Mk. VIII concept. It's always for sale, must've been on eBay four or five times now. http://jalopnik.com/276295/the-1993...lling-door-concept-car-hides-your-heavy-doors
