    All,

Current car has a Kenwood head unit that, while serviceable, has an annoying "one button does everything" kind of interface.

So what would everyone recommend .. it needs to be able to do the following

USB in (preferably on the back)
Aux In (pref on the back but front is fine too)
    Play MP3 CDs

It would be nice if it could do BT Audio streaming from a phone ->> car speakers but that's a nice to have not a must.

Alpine is what I swear by. Functionality and styling and sound quality all top notch in my experience

My particular model has all the functions you mention. I use both rear USB which pi run a lead from to by my feet so I can unplug when adding or changing the contents and my phone now and then when I forget USB. It also can connect to internet radio if you have an iPhone. CDE 135BT is the model number. I would highly recommend it. It also has 3 pre-outs for connecting after market speakers amps etc. The only thing it doesn't have is DAB but you can get the next model up in the range if you need that as well. I have 4 Infinity speakers hooked up to an Alpine amp and subwoofer with its own built in amp. Amazing sound quality.

What is your budget? I just bought a head unit this week and my requirements were:

    iPod connectivity (rear)
    CD
    Bluetooth

I was looking at the CDE-174BT here.
I ended up buying this though as I preferred the styling.

Back in the day it was either alpine or pioneer, you couldn't go wrong with them.

thanks for all the links chaps - one assumes that the alpine can do BT audio streaming?

Other than the double din units - anyone got any recommendations for a single din one?

also - are there any nice alpine ones with both a read and a front USB port? rear would be good as it means i can put something in the glove box like an ipod and forget about it.

aye - it looks good for a single din unit - any idea if there's a similar one that's double din?

looks like the only two current double dinn head units from apline are no where near as good as some of their single din units!!
