Well, it will most likely be a few weeks to 1-3 months before you can get your hands on a 6800gt PCI-E. So if you want the system soon go with the X800Pro or Platium Extreme if you can find it. You could go with a AGP motherboard, that way you could set it up now, save a little money. If you aren't going for a SLI video set-up the you have very little to lose.
OK, so I've decided I'm going with a 6800GT... Problem though... I don't know where I can get a Dual DVI output PCI-E 6800GT Video Card... I want to be able to run my 2x 17" LCD's on DVI... Anyone have any ideas of where I might be able to get that or idea's that may be better options???
Well I'm not building the computer until December no matter how I slice it. I want to go PCI-E no matter what, just cause I dont want to be spending all this money, and not have a top of the line system. I also want to utilize the new SATA II for the new NCQ technology, and all the new features of the nforce4 chipset... I've seen a few PCI-E 6800GT's floatin around, but they are hard to find and expensive... I think monarch has one for liek $445 or somethin, but for $445, but is it worth $445?!?!?! I dont know... Maybe... its a eVGA with Dual DVI, which is exactly what I want... Think any of my stuff will go down in price between now and mid-december???
Its all about supply and demand. The 6800 GT PCI Express variety is not going to be widely available until the launch of nforce 4, which is scheduled to occur quite soon. As a result, the prices should drop once nvidia starts getting those chips out in volume to more reasonable levels. ($400)
If I had that money to spend on a gfx card I would get the 6800GT without a doubt, they seem to be better performers from the reviews I have read.
Well since I will not be buying it until December, I will see what is going on then... Thanks for all the help though everyone!
