Awwwww man, enough teasing with renders. Let's see some building! Look's good; I'm looking forward to the build itself.
Believe it or not, I had 6 in L.O.S.I.A.S., and still had decent flow. Haha, soon my man. I've still got to finish 'Hutch' for my friend, but this is right after. I've got about 90% of the details finished on this case. I'm still tweaking though. Last night I managed to make a little more room for larger fans. Originally I was only planning on 25mm thick fans, now I've got room for my monster San Ace 1011's. This thing might have enough thrust to fly. I've also got to do a little more interior parts placement. The Pico-ITx was originally located on the lower right rear, but I've since added the Aquaero to that location. That means I need to find a new spot for the Pico. I'm also looking for room for a Multiswitch, and USB hubs. I'm also thinking of adding a single SSD to the system for my OS. That would make for a total 5 drives. A SSD for the OS, a pair of Velociraptors in raid 0 for games, a 750gb drive for data and backups, and another 750gb drive for the Pico.
It's so compact, the 90's will have little effect. You must be running less than 3 feet of hose there.
Nicely coming together in concept there mate! I see you modeled the screen By the way, the screen connects through Mini-USB. The mini-USB cable that is supplied is butt-ugly, with a big fat bulge right where it pops out underneath the screen. Any cable will do though, so get your hands on a replacement. As long as you make sure the USB-hub you are using is well-powered, you wont have any trouble. If you care to use the microphone and the headphone-out, you'll need to connect two more mini-jack to mini-jack cables. All connections are placed in the little recession on the back, so they should be pretty easy to keep out of sight. One more thing that comes to mind is that you should hide a touch-pen somewhere in the case, for easy control.
Thanks man! I did model the screen thanks to your excellent measurements. Thanks for the info regarding the cables. I'm certain I've got something laying around that will work. I'm pretty sure I'll need to rely on a decent powered powered hub though. I doubt the Pico is up to powering the screen. I didn't think about a pen... good idea.
I've got a quickie ViaCAD render here. No time for anything prettier, but I thought I'd show you the color scheme I'm likely going to use. Although my Duality project may be postponed, I loved the colors enough to use them here. Before settling on the orange, I ran through a rainbow of choices, and came back to this. It just stands out.
A modder cannot go wrong with orange and black IMHO. My greatest new car was an orange 1969 Hemi Roadrunner with black interior and black vinyl roof. Matte black on the hood and I added the large "Plymouth" black rear side vinyl graphics from THE SuperBird. 19 years old and chasing. john
That's classic, John! A very nice car indeed. I am definitely considering anodizing. It will really come down to the cost, and the case fins... I had originally planned on having them brazed to the case when built. However, if I go with powdercoating or anodizing, they'll have to be attached after. I'm really not sure of the best method to do that yet.
These plans are starting to look nice... Take your time though... Well designed is more than half done BTW the frames I told you about are going to be welded as the price was not that bad at all...
Unfortunate news update here... I received the following email from The Gadgeteers this morning. It seems the LCD I had ordered for OSIDIAS will no longer be made. I've ordered the non-touchscreen version with the intent of adding a touch panel at a later date. Bummer.
i'll let you buy one of mine for my original price plus shipping, since my plans for the triplescreen laptop self-destructed with a load of driver issues. Let me know
I'm not sure what you paid for yours, but I'm guessing the shipping isn't cheap... I'm currently looking for touchscreen panels, but not sure which direction I will go. I'll be in touch soon. ;-)
MotherboardPro had the Asus Rampage II Gene in stock briefly this morning... So guess what I ordered? So, come this weekend I'll be officially i7 courtesy of the Asus Rampage II Gene, i7 920, 6GB OCZ Platinum, and a SilverStone DA1000 PSU.
Hehe, nice score there Craig. I was beginning to wonder if the Gene would ever grace our fair shores. Its a good thing I am in no hurry to snag one, or else I might be cursing you right now.
Okay, I'm sure you guys are tired of seeing all the lame render pictures in this thread... I assure you, these are different though. Dark~3nergy has put his talents to use for me, and created the following... Many thanks go out to D~3 for all his time!
