I posted my review of the new cordless Dremel over on my blog. (link to review of Dremel 8200 on ToolGuyd) In a nutshell, holy cow, the cordless tool performs like it's plugged in! Beginning modders should still stick with a corded Dremel rotary tool, but the cordless version is great for those that need portability with the performance of a corded tool. The tool should be available internationally, and is ~$100 USD for the 1-battery kit, or ~$150 USD for the 2-battery kit, which also includes a right angle attachment.
I haven't used it under consistent enough conditions to provide any real numbers, but it lasts a LOT longer than Dremel's previous cordless tools. For the initial testing, I used it whenever I would have used a corded Dremel over the course of a few weeks. Whenever the battery dropped down to one bar out of three, I charged it that night.
Nice, I'm gonna buy one when I upgrade and add to the workshop equipment later in the summer. I've been meaning to get another Dremel anyway, so that I can save some time by not having to switch between attachments so often, so this is the perfect excuse! Nice review Stuey
As long as it can last for around 2 - 4 hours of use thatd be good. No one should be using a dremel for real heavy duty work anyways.
It won't last 2-4 hours of continuous use. Intermittant use, maybe. But, with 2 charged batteries, 2-4 hours should be a cinch. When one dies, pop it on the charger, and it'll be ready to go before the 2nd batt is drained.
