http://support.creative.com/downloads/welcome.aspx?nDriverType=1#type_1 asked creative support on facebook and thats the link they gave me drivers are dated 25/01/13 - finally something new after a year or 2 lol
A new file, but has it fixed anything or simply added more useless bloatware? Thats the real question.
WURT? NOES Can't believe it lol Might bring back the good stuff that they used to have on XP without all the instability. Edit: apparently all it does is add Windows 8 support, and its 4MB smaller than the previous driver? Not a blinkin' chance.
I don't care, it's too late.. I have a Xonar STX now. And Creative is no longer going to get a single penny from now. The X-FI was a terrible sound card in both hardware design and drivers support, not to mention their behavior.
It's not like they actually did anything, that so called update is simply the bare minimum so that their products work on Win 8. It's not about answering the community, its just Creative carrying on not giving a toss.
I was actually looking at a Titanium HD, using a Xonar DG with my 598's at the moment. Should I be buying a better Asus card or something? It's just I don't find the surround sound in gaming all that great on my DG. I did hear that Creative cards are better for gaming.
Hah, I'm getting that impression So perhaps I should be looking at an Essence STX or something? I'm probably 50/50 on music and gaming.
The surround sound options are a matter of preference, Dolby Surround on the Asus cards verses CMSS3D on the X-Fi ones. I tried both and largely prefer CMSS3D, currently have an X-Fi XtremeGamer which is a large upgrade over the DG I used to have, and is available for £25 refurbished IIRC. It is a decent card, does the job, Creative's own drivers are very plain, but I downloaded some easy-to-find alternatives that have a lot more options and work nicely. There is one issue reported over the Web, the fact that creative cards may not like your system and result in BSODS by the dozen, but for £25 I would say it's worth the small risk to have a go. In general, creative cards are great for gaming, but in recent games many game developers don't program to make use of the excellent Xfi hardware capabilities, so the advantages of Creative over Asus and the rest simply aren't being utilized in most games.
I have purchased and tested both the Titanium HD and the Asus STX. Both are brilliant cards, no doubt. For gaming the HD is brilliant and I've never had any issues with the drivers in any of the games I test. However when it came to music (compared with the STX) it was just a little to harsh for my ears. As such I settled with the STX. But as far as drivers and gaming goes for the creative HD etc. I think its just another urban myth that might have been true years back but doesn't anymore - I dunno just sharing my experience of both HD and STX. Bottom line, both are awesome.
i have an x-fi xtremegamer fatility edition (64mb of ram on it) - and use alchemy where i can as well
PAX Drivers Cheesecake EDIT: Who has placed an auto-correct on F.T.W!? Cheesecake just doesn't have the same ring to it.
Yeah noticed that, there is one on "posts" too, if it's in your sig it gets replaced with "signature". What for? I have no clue
