Been working on this for the last few days now: The upper bus controls the 120mm cooling fans of my w/c. The LCD is a 16x2 character parallel LCD which has been inverted and which is backlighted with an white EL sheet. As soon as my new 120mm fans for the w/c arrive, the LCD will display CPU temperature and fan RPM. Will be kind of cool, when the lcd changes, when you turn the fan knobs. The lower bus switches various mods in the PC on and off. It features vandal resistant buttons and LED holders with lenses. The LEDs used are RGB LEDs and light up blue, when the mod is on and light up red, when it is off. I got a prototype circuit for this working and am now making a circuit for all 5 buttons (they are not switches! but push to make buttons!). The knobs for the upper bus were taken from a 20 year old amp, and had to be cut down in height, because the plexi door wouldn't close otherwise.
Thats some sweet looking baybus, retail quality, i'm not a big fan LED bezels but i think they work well there.
That looks SWEET! What is that thing on top of your PC in the second pic? EDIT: Oh, and what s/ware are you using to get the winamp graphics on your lcd?
Only one thing i can say about that, pimpage!! just lovin the whole alumnium look, /me wishes i could afford a nice alu case btw im not seeing the 2nd pic atm EDIT: its appeared now
Thanks! That thing on top is the watertank for my w/c. The plexi front is cloudy because of the water. I can't remove those clouds, not with acid, water or sope. Gonna have to make a new top.
DAMN! That is VERY impressive. What a setup? Did you make that Amu shroud for a plain perspex thing, or buy that as a single unit? And if you bought it, where!??!! Oh, and I'm guessing the LCD software is jaLCDs. Found the feature now
Wish I had made it myself! Nope, this res. was bought. The company making it is Cool Cases, however this particular version is not manufactured anymore. You can however get pretty similar ones, only they are a bit smaller. Have a look on the site.
Not sure how it would look on yours but if you want I have modified his plugin to show the song on line one and the combination of the L & R channels on line 2. Works well for me but the 2 line is looking really nice on yours. 2 questions, first where can i get myself a sweet looing blue lcd? Mine is green and doesn't match to well with the blue of the rest of my case and second, did you make that lcd bezel or buy it?
thats funkin amazing dude, a bit of constructive critisism, not sure how possible it is but the red lines on the 2 knobs i think need to be changed, i think black would look best. but still, thats the sweetest looking case ive seen in a while. *looks scornfully at my windowed beige box* one day i'll finish it.
You can get blue LCDs at Modwarehouse or directly from Crystalfontz or Matrix Orbital. There probably are far more distributers than these. The LCD I used, was orignally not backlit at all and also had a green background. I used an white EL sheet to backlight it and some polaroid sheet stuff to invert it. There is a tutorial in the modding guides forum.
I already tried to drill holes into another knob and put some fiber optic cable through it. It didn't look all too good. Also I am not all too keen on destroying these knobs as they are the only ones I have. They were taken from a 20 year old amp, so it would be really hard if not impossible to get new ones. Maybe I'll paint over the red in blue paint...
