Can we have a 'specialist knowledge' section added to the Forum that you need specialist accreditation to participate in, so that the likes of me can leave those with real world technical questions in peace... due to not having any such accreditation(s)...?

Terrible idea. Everyone thinks they're specialists and are full of themselves. Trust me, I'm a specialist.

    That bit would require proof...
... but how would it get verified...?

I've peer reviewed @yuusou 's findings and have come to the same conclusion.

Haha yes this isn't a good idea, splitting forums into too narrow categories reduces discussion and makes it all a bit pointless :)
People want other opinions otherwise they wouldn't post is my view, nothing is forcing anyone to post on here :)

Is that why some sections of the older Forum versions never made it across, 'cos they were 'too exclusive'...?

I seem to remember some that were vendor/supplier specific...

On topic; I can't see that IT specialisation Fora would be a bad thing, if it gets people the right specialist knowledge quicker.

IMO it'd thin out an already thinning herd.

And everyone likes to think they're specialists.

I'm a specialist at overly complicated solutions to things that aren't really problems.

My speciality is in a similar field.

I specialise in overly complicated solutions to problems that weren't originally problems.

If it's not broken, I'll fix/mod/complicate it until it is.

I'm a specialist in nothing... so it'd keep me from overcomplicating simple (to the right people) problems.

Why not just refrain from posting solutions/suggestions on issues that are unfamiliar to you? Or alternatively just accept that you are going to be wrong sometimes - nobody minds as long as you own any mistakes!

I'm sure I've given and been given a bunch of crap advice on the internet over the years, it happens, the world keeps on turning :winking:

Tbfh man, sometimes people overcomplicate their problem, and another perspective is what they need. I wouldn't worry about making suggestions even if they turn out to go nowhere sometimes.

I do it all the time personally and professionally.

Since we're naming specialties, I'm claiming this one.

While you offer inspiration/advice to the modding community, on here... you are denied that claim. :p

    EDIT:
Exhibit 1 - don't care how long it took to finish.

One of my speciality specialties is offering advice on things I have little or no knowledge of.

According to the good lady if I don't know the answer to something i'll make it up. I disagree, I use my collected knowledge and create a hypothesis. Or two. Or three come to think of it.

    I forgot where I heard it but. I like to think of that as;

"I have approximate knowledge of many things"

    I like that.

I am very knowledgeable about things I don't understand.
