    Hi All,

I’ve got a budget of £1400 and am looking to buy a gaming laptop.
If possible I would like to get one with a 17” 2160x1440 screen and also something that isn’t too noisy!?

    Has anyone got any suggestions?

    Thanks in Advance

For a 1440p 17" laptop with a GPU that's powerful enough to drive it, you're either going to have to up the budget a bit closer to £2000 or consider second-hand.

Also, I'm not being an arse (I promise) but there is no such thing as a "quiet" gaming laptop. There are some that are objectively quieter than others, but you'll be reaching for some headphones as soon as you fire up any game whatever model you go for.

Lower your expectations or increase your budget.

    Thanks Both,

Has you dealt with PCspecialist.co.uk before? Have Lyon heard anything about them?
I have attached a PDF of a quote for a system that looks pretty good for £1500.

Having done some research I agree that “quiet” isn’t really an option! It looks like there are some smart solutions for cooling like the ROG zephyerus M.

i’ll probably Wait a bit and see what comes out of CES next weekend, see if any mobile versions of Nvidia's new line are announced.

That seems like one hell of a deal right there. Just bear in mind that a 1070 won't be driving the 120 Hz panel at max in newer AAA titles with everything cranked.

    Cheers for the Reply,

No worries there, my main rig has a 1080ti in so this is just to fill the gap while travelling and casual gaming around the house!

Would just like to second this!

The 1070 (mobile version) is quite powerful, about the same as a 980 Ti. You'll get framerates of 60+ in most games at full resolution, provided you're not running silly high AA or demanding effects such as Hairworks.

Cheers Pete, looks like a winner. I haven’t found anything else that gets close at this price.
