thats with vat/tax in the uk. if i bought it here in ireland it would be €55. i think vat/tax in ireland is 17.5% on luxuries like games

amazon.co.uk delievers to ireland and charges uk prices so happy days :D

you cant impose levies inside the EU, but you can have different tax rates in different countires

its just a case of ripping people off because theyre used to the price they pay

were always getting ripped off here in ireland, i live right on the border with northern ireland and do as much of my shopping as possible in the uk.

hint, look to the west. i assume you don't want the game in soumi, so why not grab a copy from a neighbouring country in the west.

Got it yesterday through shopto.net. Played a bit last night after signing out of PSN. I earnt the first licence. Did a time trial in a Fiat 500 - getting that thing above 60mph is a trial! Speccing up an Accord, got it to over 200bhp and it doesn't half shift.

1080p graphics don't look too bad although the shadows can look a bit parp.

Has anyone watched the intro movie all the way through? I got bored about a couple of minutes in :) Just wanted to race a car!

Also, an update before the game is released?! 1.01 (133MB iirc). Didn't bother with the big install although I think it's going to help, with the amount of time the tracks take to load.

It looks like being a big game though.

    OK.

Installed the whole thing including the 133MB patch and grabbed a M3 for a quick race...

The physics are rather well done and you better break or slow down before you turn into the corner and accelerate not before you've reached the midpoint of the corner.

Graphics are smooth and all around good, especially the premium-models are very well done and shiny. The shadows are too sharp in general and there's still room for improovement on the envoironment and world-textures too.

Mine was on the van at 7:17am, and got here at about 2pm.

    I'm currently installing GT5, which apparently takes 40mins, :D

Then I've got to switch it over to my other monitor to see if that works now that I've done the initial setup.

My other monitor, which is in front of my G25, is a samsung SM206BW. So I've got a DVI to HDMI cable, which worked with my xbox, so I'm hoping it'll work with the PS3. Just means I won't have 1080p, might do a few races first on my 24" screen at 1080p, :D

might be on the van alright but doesnt mean youll get it today if the driver doesnt have time. i had this problem with something before, left the depot every day and the driver never got around to delivering it for a few days

is it a bad sign that amazon say they have dispatched the game but havent taken the money?

I had a very brief play of this game at my local HMV and I was reasonably impressed. The graphics are pretty damn close to Forza 3 (perhaps slightly better) and the handling seems decent - the point they made in the IGN review about the cars squirming under braking is very true.

I only played with the 2007 BMW M3 on Monza (in the rain) and the 2010 Lamborghini Gallardo on another track, but both seemed very well modelled - but not any better than Forza 3 if I'm honest. Damage seemed comparable on both to Forza 3 too - i.e. mostly cosmetic and very minor compared to the crash speeds. Having working wipers was very cool though.

From first impressions, it seems like a good game but its nothing mindblowing. :)

Yep, the long loading times, say between car delivery section and home section are ridiculously long at the moment. It has something to do with waiting for a network response and has a timeout of like 2minutes(?). Server down and no response = long wait. No f'ing idea why they integrated a lot of network features into the loading screens.
