As Cerberus has said, just elaborating. It seems you are getting too much braking power to the rear and are subsequently locking up the rear wheels. You can soften the suspension to make more weight transfer to the front making the front tyres work harder and the rear work less. You could achieve the same result by rising the ride height. This can also help you accelerate by transferring more weight to the rear when accelerating. Of course if the handling is fine, other than that, you could also move the brake bias forward. Another thing to try is braking in a straight line then turning in. Braking and turning is a big no no unless you really want the back end to step out. Another way to counter the turn in rear lock up is to add some camber to the rear.
wouldn't the brake bias want moving to the front? Raising the ride height is gonna mess with the CoG and inertia and possibly mess up the handling in the corners. And it would also have the effect of putting more weight on the front when braking. Wf = (c/L)*W - (h/L)*M*a Wr = (b/L)*W + (h/L)*M*a b = distance from cog to front axle c = distance from cog to rear axle h = height of cog L = length between axles M= mass a = acceleration so as h increases the forces on rear axle increases under accel, and then when braking (-a) the force on the front axle increases too. Best suggestion is probably as Kaiwan says, brake in a straight line and slightly earlier. Entry to the corner is the most important.
Ha ha yeah typo'd. I meant bias to the front. This is true, it's not the best solution it's just A solution.
I ended up doing the 1000km Suzuka race in a Super GT car as it seemed only right, and that took a little over 6 hours. Was quite good fun as well, only won by ~3 laps in the end. I got over 1.2 million experience points for that race as well which was a pretty sweet bonus, I wasn't expecting anywhere near that much.
Well done - nice amount of XP - at least they make it worth it! Haven't yet had the time to do this one yet.
DAMNIT I did NOT get that much XP when I did that race! They've been changing the XP amounts in recent updates
Same car I did the Suzuka 1000km in - a Super GT Nissan GT-R. I wanted something that was easy to drive since speed wasn't really an issue in a time-limited race (although it had lower BHP than some of the other cars in the race, with racing softs on it was still a good 30-40 seconds quicker per lap than the rest of the field). I think I've had enough of A-spec now though, I'm level 33 and only have the last 3 endurances races to gold (as well as the last Nacar race on Daytona, but I'm trying to forget that ), but I'll leave them to another time. I need to rank my B-spec up now I think, he's only level 22 at the moment.
Thanks for the suggestion guys but the problem is more severe than you think. It doesn't matter if I'm in a straight line or not or if I make sure I don't lock the wheels with early hard braking, I lose the back either way. I'll still give it a try, though
Did 3.5 hours of Nurburgring today - then power cut! The most frustrating thing is that it only lasted a few seconds. I might hook up the UPS to the playstation (it wasn't powerful enough for my PC)! Got the Dream Race achievement (erm sorry, trophy) today though - that was hard using an XJ13. Hope there will be some more seasonal events soon!
i could have sworn a few weeks ago they had an announcement saying that seasonal weeks would come once a week on the thursday, give or take a day, clearly failed this week... how hard is it for them to pick a track and a car with a darts board?
Zonda R is SWEEEET Sucks to hear the power cut out so close to the end of that 4 hr race. I really didn't think they'd be able to stick to their seasonal schedule
was on gtplanet today, mid race saves are going to be implemented only way id ever get through endurance races that was only for the holiday season I think
http://www.gtplanet.net/in-race-game-saves-coming-to-gran-turismo-5/ thought id double check lol my crappier bob is racing my zonda r atm, he'd better be kind to it!
Another thing I wish they'd add is the ability to pause B-spec races. When you're in the middle of a race where constant babysitting is required, having to leave the Bob unattended for even 5 minutes can mean the difference between winning and losing a race (which is particularly annoying in the middle of a long championship).
