As a result of upgrading from a 955be cpu and msi 790fx motherboard I have performed a full reinstall.

As part of my back up routine I systematically remove all my games one by one to make sure I back up any saves as I go.

Just before I restarted to commence the reinstall I checked how much space on my SSD was used and it reported around 20gb.

Now that I have completed a basic reinstall, (I've hardly installed any of my programs, just Xfire, Mumble and Vent) I find that 31GB of my SSD has been used up.

Is it normal for an Intel machine to use up over 10GB more than an AMD machine?

As most people know space is of a premium on an SSD.

Edit.....just found 6gb of the space being used up by hiderfil.sys which I thought had been disabled and I can't delete it.

Another large chunk is for the page file which I usually have located on my F3 which isn't connect right now so this explains where alot of space has gone but why can't I delete the hibernation file?

Turned off hibrnation using the command prompt problem solved.

Feel free to delete, soz :)

You need to disable Hybrid sleep mode.
And then turn off Hibernation mode from the command line opened as elevated credentials.

    So in other words:
Start > type: power > Power Options.
Then select Change plan settings, of the currently select plan (Balance by default), then click on change advance power settings. On the panel that will open, go under the Sleep section, and under Allow Hybrid sleep and turn it off. Click Apply, and close everything.

Then Open the Command prompt as elevated credential (true Administrator), to do this: Start> type: cmd > right-click on cmd.exe, and select Run As Administrator.
Now the command prompt will show. Type in: powercfg -h off, and hit the Enter key.

Once done, restart your system, and now you can delete the hiberfil.sys file.
